Government deposits $12m into the accounts of TAJ for her to leave.

The PNP government has reportedly deposited a sum to $12m into the account of the CEO of TAJ as they move to remove her from office, even as the courts says she must be reinstated.

This is yet another corrupt act on the part of the PNP as they seek to push their own agenda and have their own way as it relates to who heads public sector bodies in Jamaica.

The real Public Health Crises !

There is a terminology that I first saw really epitomized in the movie called Face Off and its a scene where John Travolta appeared to have stepped unto a helicopter which later crashed and he was thought to have died. The scene was a clever act of misdirection, where what we thought we saw, was not actually what occurred.

The Minister of Health in Jamaica has over the last three weeks have Jamaicans really caught up in the debate over a public health crises in what I will call the “created smoking health crises” and the merits of the new smoking regulations .

While this hullabaloo is  going on, it has served to masked the real crises that exist in the healthcare sector and is reminiscent of the misdirection I highlight above in ” Face Off”. Now it’s not that anything is wrong with the new smoking regulations, its more so its timing, when we have a major public health crises going on.

Hospitals are currently running without basic medication, syringes, needles, equipment cannot be sterilized as the machine used to perform that function ( an autoclave) is not working. Doctors are not be through in their care of patients and while other doctors are aware, they remain silent for fear of the backlash.

We have persons literally dying at the hospitals due to lack of care, we have shortage of beds, the waiting times are excessively long, Doctors and Nurses are overworked and making mistakes, some of which, are tragic and the families of those who have died are not even aware of the horrible mistakes that are being made , which have resulted in the loss of their loved ones.

The horror stories being told by Doctors in the system have pushed me to the point where I have made sure that none of my family members or friends go to the public hospitals for healthcare. Now Andrews Memorial and Medical Associates( Expensive) are the preferred places to go, but one must note that Andrews Memorial does not handle gunshot wounds and you will have no choice to go to KPH or the UHWI if you find MA fees too high.

KPH does have better ability to deal with these trauma cases, which is what many would not know and could be misled to believe that UHWI is better place for this.

Cancer in kids is a major issue right now in Jamaica and a visit to ward # ( I will leave that out )at the UHWI is heartrending. This particular ward holds many of the kids today, who have been stricken with cancer and many have been there for months getting healthcare.  Parents have camped out in chair at their kids bedside not wanting to leave them for a  minute as the poor souls battle the very serious affliction.

The nurse on the ward I have found to be very pleasant and caring for the most part and have built a great rapour with the kids as well as their parents as they try their best under trying circumstances  to make the burden a bit easier for them.

One patient who I and my family have been visiting for the past 3 months made her exit from this world midday, July 29, 2013. She fought a hard battle, her mom and sister were constantly at her bedside caring for her as best as they could, but sadly she passed, the pain was just more than her young body could bear.

As I sat to write this piece I reflected on the life of the many others who I saw their during my many visits and wondered how many of them will get the care they need to make it out alive.

I also reflected on the live of 5 year old  Malkyah Natasha  Muirhead who died on July 21, 2013 also to the dread Cancer after losing the fight with this disease . Her funeral will take place this weekend, Saturday, Aug 3, 2013  at the Church of the open Bible, folly road Port Antonio, Portland.

These are the stories we don’t hear of, these are real people who try as they may are not match for some of these illness and our creaking healthcare system have failed many of them.

So Doctor Ferguson  Commonsenseja is saying, I hear you on the smoking thing as that will help prevent other from getting cancer, but don’t lose sight of the immediate public health crises on our hands right this minute.

Bless

Richie Parker, full of talent, though he does not have a lot to work with.

Many of us bitch and complain even while we have all we need to make something of ourselves. I just came across this young black guy in the USA who has no hands, yet he is able to do amazing things and has accomplished a lot.

Enjoy this rather inspirational story.

Another Comrade gets to eat a food, Colin Campbell now at JUTC

As the PNP continues to move fellow comrades into various positions in the public sector, the Jamaica Observer is now reporting that Comrade Colin Campbell of Trafigura fame has now been appointed Managing Director of the JUTC.

What strikes my about these appointments  as this PNP administrations ensures that it takes care of its own, by providing them with high profile public sector jobs, is the loud silence from the once very vocal media and its commentators.

What for example makes Colin Campbell the most suited person for this job?

Did he go through the formal application and interview process as it should be done or was it for mere formality ?

I must hand it to the PNP however, as they seem capable of employing anything that is orange competent or not and one can expect the appointments to take place without the usual noise we would have become accustom to under the previous administration.

Nepotism at its brilliant best.

Comrades fi life a dat we say, d ole a we must get fi eat a food.

Jamaica’s most evil and how do we stop them !

” Jamaica’s most evil” a television expose

featuring

  •  Minister of National Security Peter Bunting current Minister of National Security
  • Portia Simpson Miller – Current Prime Minister of Jamaica
  • Mark Golding- Current   Justice Minister
  • Bruce Golding – Former Prime Minister of Jamaica
  • Delroy Chuck – opposition spokesman on Justice
  • Dwight Nelson – former Minister of National Security
  • JFJ
  • PMI
  • CAPI

The feature will explore the circumstances that leads to the murderous behaviour of the Jamaica men and what steps needs to be taken to bring the level of barbarity under control, then eliminating it.

It will also take a look at the most prominent gangs in Jamaica, explore their recruiting process, their operation , headquarters,  structure , financing and their intended goals.

It will also take a look at the current justice system and explore what changes needs to be made for the effective and efficient administration of justice.

It will look at the role of the police in the crime prevention, detection, investigation and ultimately production of evidence that can lead to conviction of the parties involved.

It will explore the current role of the DPP and come up with those changes to make this role more effective.

The big  question is, which television or radio station is willing to devote the time, space, energy and funds need to make this happen?

Is it not time to lay out all out there and address the problem head on?

How on earth can we have gangs operating in very small geographic area for over 10 yrs and counting and we are unable to dismantle them in this age of modern technology ?

National Security Crises in Jamaica, we need HELP !i

The murder of a man at the Altar of  Church in the  community of Bull Bay, is yet another reminder of the callousness and brutish behaviour of the gunmen in Jamaica. To kill the man in full view of kids ages 5 – 8 and injuring of one 5 yr old in the process is a clear indication that these guys have zero respect for law and order and the sanctity of life.

I was by the crime scene yesterday approximately 1.5hrs after the incident had occurred and by then the cops had completed there “investigation” and curious onlookers were all over the crime scene. I shook my head on the realization that our “investigation” merely involved identification by way of markers of the position of the body as well as spent shells.

I am almost certain that given the short time the investigators spent at the crime scene, that the war heads that missed the intended targets were NOT collected  so they can be used as part of the investigation and the use of comparison testing.

Our cops spent so little time, that the only evidence they could have collected during that time was the MOST visible stuff, that even I as a ordinary citizen would have been able to identify.

The other thing I notice on was a jeep load of heavily armed army personnel driving around the place, without seemingly looking for anything and they were back out on the road again this morning, just driving around in an intimidating fashion.

Peter Bunting and the government must recognize that things are spiraling out of control and unless immediate action is taken, Jamaica stand a great chance of be officially being declared a failed state by the USA, Canada and the UK thus “killing” our tourism product.

The crime bosses in Jamaica have ” tun up d ting”, there is no central control and what we have is disorganized crime.

I have found that its a lot easier to deal with organized crime vs disorganized crime. In the former, there is central control, their exist a structure and if you are patient, through and very clever, you can take out an entire criminal organization in one swoop.

In Jamaica crime does not appear to be organized, we have splintered groups all over the country, with each person doing his or her own thing, which makes the task so much more difficult.

We therefore need assistance in tackling disorganized crime, our cops do not have the capacity, the tools or the skills required to frontally address this issue and the Minister with responsibility thinks charts and graphs are the way to manage crime.

Why have things taken a turn for the worse over the last 18 months?

I know the economic situation have gotten a lot worse, but that alone cannot be the real reason for the out of control nature of what is happening now.

The rule of law and order has all but disappeared and anarchy is slowly taking over. We have become so hardened by the brutality of criminal behaviour that no matter how heinous the crime is, we no longer feel strongly about it.

I spoke with a returning resident who only last year had returned to Jamaica after 30 yrs overseas. He told me he has put up his house for sale and will be returning to his adopted country, because he cannot see himself living a fulfilled life in Jamaica and dying a natural death.

How much longer is Portia Simpson Miller is going to remain quiet and not talk herself out of office, while our women gets raped and the young , middle aged and the old get murdered on a daily basis and the few who are caught walks free having secured freedom with the help of our top flight lawyers and a broken justice system.

How long Madame Prime Minister, how much longer do you expect us to wait before you and your team get off your collective rumps and do something for the people of Jamaica.

I never thought I would ever feel so strongly  about the lack of a good future for Jamaicans in Jamaica, but sadly as much as I think this is one of the most beautiful countries on the planet, I cannot continue to pretended that we have not become a nation of savages, degenerates ,corruption laden and a lawless bunch.

I am tired , really really tired.

Will the OUR ever break its silence ?

The media and commentators have blasted the OUR over the last few days on the handling ( more like  mishandling) of the 360MW plant, both in terms of delays and changes to the terms and condition of the bid process.

The Government’s chief spokesman on Energy, Phillip Paulwell has told the OUR that his government will accept no more delays !

The business sectors, the media and commentators have joined the fray, each taking turns taking a bit out of the A$$ of the OUR on the delays in getting the process completed , but what is the real story behind the 36oMW  and will the OUR continue to remain silent or speak the inconvenient truth.

Many of us in a job today see many wrong things going on around us by those who have been given the mandate to lead, but out of fear of losing OUR earnings would rather remain silent vs speaking the truth and risk losing your job, since very few will be willing to stand behind you.

I have information to suggest that many who are speaking out against the OUR are doing so out of sheer ignorance or misinformation provided by persons who are seeking to ensure the are not caught up in the mess they created.

I always say, give people the terms and references within which to work and then keep out of it, because meddling serves only to frustrate the process, resulting in long delays and then you become the fall guy.

Don’t believe everything you here, there is a lot of mis-direction at play here all designed to deliver a particular outcome, just watch the play.

I think you all get the message.

So many Jamaican’s don’t have to die at our hospitals !

The rate of people going into the hospital and not making it out is staggering and the sad part about this, is many who die, did not have to die. There is a general lack of attention to detail  and general care in our public hospital leading to many deaths that did not have to happen.

A few ago I was at Devon House and overheard a conversation between a young doctor and her friend, where she said something to the effect, as Doctors we are not supposed to get emotionally attached to our patient and between sobs lamented the fact that ” she did not have to die, she did not have to die she could have been saved”. I will not disclose which hospital the young Dr was attached to, but clearly she was distraught by the fact the patient who died, did not have to had she received proper care but there was nothing she could have done about it at this stage.

I understand that at one of the more prominent  public hospitals the healthcare system is so bad, that persons are getting adverse results from urine samples due to dirty and  unsterilized ” urine container” .  It is therefore advisable that when visiting our public hospital you should walk with a sterile container to collect your urine sample least you be told you have a disease that you really don’t have.

There does not appear to be this “fight” to save life at our public hospitals and while we have good Doctors and Nurses, many have long given up the fight and are simply just doing what they can do with what they have.

Our Minister of Health speaks a lot but when one look at the ramshackle he is presiding over, he ought to tell the country that we are in crises and declare a public health emergency and seek immediate help to fix the problem with healthcare.

How can one run a hospital for months without a functional autoclave?

An autoclave is a device that is used  in the sterilization process, which is a critical part of the healthcare system. I heard of one case where a patient need an urgent injection and there was no needles, resulting in the healthcare provider, sterilizing a needle that had been previously used, to provide the patient with the much needed injection.

This my friend is what our healthcare system has degraded to, where Doctors and Nurses have to be fighting to get the very basic stuff to provide healthcare to those turning up at our public institutions and I am talking about one our better hospitals.

Despite all the ills of the healthcare system and the lack of funding to provide even basic stuff, we have a government that spent over $500m last year to celebrate Jamaica and plans to spend another $100m for this year celebration. I must ask the  question, where are our priorities and why do we seem to be all too willing to spend scare resources where the returns are the lowest in terms of real value?

Smile Jamaica is no more, its now Cry Jamaica !

As I reflected on the life of Priest Charlie Brown, retired Roman Catholic priest, whose life was apparently snuffed out by depraved criminal elements , I can no longer say Smile Jamaica, instead I am saying Cry Jamaica.

The Jamaican police this afternoon reported that a decomposing body found in Plantation Heights matches the description of 71 yr old retired priest and once again has shown the low levels than criminal elements have sunk to in this country.

I have personally know father Charile for just over 20yrs and he was involved in many of the church activities involving my family, from christening , weddings to funeral and to see his life snuffed out like this is really , really sad.

The worst part about this is the chances of someone being caught, brought to trial, convicted and sentence is only 20%, which means there is great chance that the culprits involved are likely to get away with this another heinous act. We hope however that the Father Charlie Brown case falls in that 20% and we can get some idea as to why, whoever did this act did so.

RIP Father Charlie, you will be surely missed.

Commissioner of Police orders probe in Irwin Five Case !

Commonsenseja is welcoming  news that the Commissioner of Police is to order a probe into the conduct of the policemen involved in what is now the Irwin five case.

. Commonsenseja was the first to publicly ask for a probe and this was followed just yesterday by CAPI as noted in the link below.

I was really taken aback by the fact the general public did not express outrage that the rapist were still on the loose and urging the police to not only conduct a probe into what happened, but to also with some haste move to catch the real bad guys.

The gleaner just broke news the the Commissioner has decided to look into the conduct of the police in this regard and we look forward to Mr Ellington outlying the scope of the investigation to the public as well and making the findings public.
