How hoteliers can ease the concerns of the public.

Since the announcement on Sunday May 31, 2020 that ALL persons coming into the country of June 14, 2020 will not longer be subjected to mandatory Covid test, there has been a lot of concerns but not much in the way of solutions .

I am pretty sure that the sector of the tourism industry that is likely to benefit from this will be the all inclusive hotels, but rest assured it will only be a sprinkling of visitor for the next three months so risk is quite low.

To reduce this risk further I am making the following recommendations knowing that all vistors do their booking online and pay before they get here.

  1. On the online booking portal there should be a few questions that needs to be asked of the potential tourist
    • Have any members of your family or known contacts test positive in the last 3 weeks
    • Have you ever been tested for Covid 19
    • When was the approximate date of your last test
    • Would you be willing to conduct Covid test no more than 3 days prior to your departure

2. Hotel will be offering significant discounts to get guest here and as such part of the strategy they could explore is from last question above.

3. Guest would be who have conducted testing and presented such health certification of being covid free could see very healthy discount at these hotel, see matrices below. ( This of course is an incentive for them to pay for their own Covid-19 test)

This would be a win win for all, since we will have to have steep discounts anyway to get guest in and would not really be getting a lot to give this up.
