Snoop Dogg becomes Snoop Lion, embraces Reggae Culture

NEW YORK — Snoop Dogg wants you to know that he’s tired of hip-hop, is Bob Marley reincarnated and is embracing reggae instead of the culture of guns he once rapped about.

Consumer confidence is at its lowest level ever !

Today it was reported that consumer confidence level is at its lowest ever and business confidence is at its lowest level in 3 years. Now this comes after just 7months of this administration, which is failing badly in all most every facet of management of the economy. The bungling by the Finance Minister who appears to be out at sea, an absentee Prime Minister who (when present) refuses to comment on any subject matter, a Transport Minister who picks a fight with the Contractor General in relation to his oversight of government projects.

Then we have a Foreign Affairs Minister who pledge to restore Jamaica’s credibility on the international scene, only to see it plunge lower than ever, when word came from the highly respected economist, that our growth rate is now below poverty-stricken Haiti.

The Olympics could not have come at a better time, it offers some distraction at this point in time as we cheer our Olympians along, and hoping we have a repeat of their historic performance they achieved in London.

Consumer Confidence Soars On Expectation Of Jobs From JEEP.

Consumer confidence soared but business confidence remained flat in the first quarter of 2012 due to a change of government and increased job prospects.

The index of business confidence declined 0.6 per cent to 123.7 points; consumer confidence was 51 per cent higher than year-earlier levels at 160 points.

So what really happened ? How does one explains this precipitous fall ?

Jay : So Madame Prime Minister, what factor(s) do you believe has leads to this huge decline in consumer confidence in the economy ?

Portia Simpson-Miller  ” Well I really don’t know, I have not seen the full report. I will have to await the full report so we can study it and then the party will issue a statement. That is as much as I am prepared to say at this point in time.”

Jay : But with all due respect Madame Prime Minister, we need to hear from you. Lets take today’s report into perspective. On May 2, 2102 it was reported that consumer confidence level was at a high 160+ point, so how do you explain the huge decline in just three months”.

Prime Minister : ” As I have said before I cannot comment on what I did not see, I have not seen the official report, its has not come across my desk as yet. As soon I have receive a copy, it will be reviewed and the party will issue an official statement. That is all that I am prepared to say at this point in time.”

Note the above is not an actual conversation between myself and the Prime Minister, its just how I think she would have responded if asked the above question.

Deputy Mayor, Michael Troupe escapes once again !

Mayor Troupe appears to be Teflon coated and now the cops have eggs over their faces once again. Commish, your guys screwed up big time on this one.

You jumped the “gun” before collecting all the evidence that was needed for the charges to stick and now uncle Sam is livid. I did note in another blog that the son would be the fall guy in this case and so it was. He was sentenced to 2yrs in prison for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and close to $1m in  fines.

All charges against Michael Troupe have been dropped.

CURE WINS, JPS MONOPOLY LICENSE INVALID !

The supreme court agrees with CURE. More information will be presented later.

PNP Deputy Mayor Michael Troupe charged for murder in 1997 !

Its appears that the Deputy Major of Montego Bay Michael Troupe may have more skeleton in his closet than many of us could have imagined.

It appears based on a recent article I saw, that the deputy major has had a brush with the law before and was able to escape with his freedom, see below.

WESTERN BUREAU – GLEANER September 3, 1997

A People’s National Party (PNP) activist was shot and killed and a caretaker/Councillor arrested and charged with his murder when a dispute between both men turned sour .shortly after mid-day yesterday in Montego Bay.

Dead is 32-year-old Colin ‘Crabbit” Clarke, of a Crawford Street address, in Mt. Salem, while arrested and charged with murder is Michael Troupe, the PNP’s caretaker/Councillor for the Granville Division, in St. James According to police reports, at about 12:30 p.m., Clarke went to the Albion Training Centre to collect ‘back to school money’, which was being distributed to needy parents. While at the Centre, an argument reportedly started between Mr. Troupe and himself. During a heated exchange, a scuffle reportedly started between both men and Troupe allegedly pulled his licensed firearm and fired two shots. One of the bullets struck Clarke in his left breast and he fell to the ground. He was rushed to the nearby Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following intensive investigation by a team of detectives from the Montego Bay CEB, Troupe’s firearm was seized and he was arrested and charged with murder.
He is slated to face the Montego Bay RM court today.

Troupe was eventually freed.

Portia Simpson Miller blasts minimum wage increase, calling it ” Starvation wages” !!

Today the PNP government announced a 11% increase in the minimum wage or in dollars ,  $500.00 more per week. The minister of Labour and Social Security , which is responsible for this small increase,  has suggested that this is the best that the government can do at this time.

Now Jay did say he will watch every move by this government and highlight the inconsistencies as I see them between what the PNP does in opposition vs what they do now they are in power, especially as it relates to the poor. Now in keeping with that promise lets flash back to 18 months ago.

DISSATISFIED with the 10 per cent increase for Minimum Wage earners and industrial security guards announced by the Government yesterday, the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) has pressed for an early review, tagging the new amounts “starvation wages”

“I don’t believe that Minimum Wage means that it should be starvation wages… The increase of $430 and the per-hour $10.75 cannot even buy a mint,” she said, noting that items in a very basic basket of grocery would take more than half of what a minimum wage worker earned.

“I understand your challenge, but this is not a normal time… I am shivering to think it came to Cabinet and the two of you (Charles and Rudyard ‘Ruddy’ Spencer’) signed off on it,” she said. “When the workers of this country receiving Minimum Wage must live the way they are living, all of us — Government and Opposition — have to find a way because we must make things better for those at the bottom.”

Added Simpson Miller: “I know you had a study done on a liveable wage. Not one of us inside this Parliament taking a friend for lunch would be (below) this cost and this is what the people with two, three children — some going to tertiary institutions (earn) — we have to find a way.

Can you believe the hypocrite that Portia Simpson Miller has turned out to be, as while in opposition she was strident that “poor” people should get a better wage, but 18 months later, when things are worst, Portia Simpson Miller the so called champion of the poor has done no better than the very people she was so critical of.

I have never trusted our PM and so nothing she does disappoints me as I have come to expect NOTHING from her and so far she has delivered exactly what I had come to expect.

Now the headline above was not from the JLP who is now in opposition but it could very well have been.  I would not be surprised if that is the headlines in the daily papers tomorrow.

I have presented that headline, just to show the level of deception that exist in the country and I continue to be surprised how Jamaicans seem to  quickly forget what was said vs what’s being delivered.

This is an interesting news reporting coming out of Trinidad.

The incident happened around 11.30 p.m. at one community located opposite the Trinidad and Tobago’s Regiment Camp Ogden and is considered one of the safest gated communities in the country.
