The murder of a man at the Altar of Church in the community of Bull Bay, is yet another reminder of the callousness and brutish behaviour of the gunmen in Jamaica. To kill the man in full view of kids ages 5 – 8 and injuring of one 5 yr old in the process is a clear indication that these guys have zero respect for law and order and the sanctity of life.
I was by the crime scene yesterday approximately 1.5hrs after the incident had occurred and by then the cops had completed there “investigation” and curious onlookers were all over the crime scene. I shook my head on the realization that our “investigation” merely involved identification by way of markers of the position of the body as well as spent shells.
I am almost certain that given the short time the investigators spent at the crime scene, that the war heads that missed the intended targets were NOT collected so they can be used as part of the investigation and the use of comparison testing.
Our cops spent so little time, that the only evidence they could have collected during that time was the MOST visible stuff, that even I as a ordinary citizen would have been able to identify.
The other thing I notice on was a jeep load of heavily armed army personnel driving around the place, without seemingly looking for anything and they were back out on the road again this morning, just driving around in an intimidating fashion.
Peter Bunting and the government must recognize that things are spiraling out of control and unless immediate action is taken, Jamaica stand a great chance of be officially being declared a failed state by the USA, Canada and the UK thus “killing” our tourism product.
The crime bosses in Jamaica have ” tun up d ting”, there is no central control and what we have is disorganized crime.
I have found that its a lot easier to deal with organized crime vs disorganized crime. In the former, there is central control, their exist a structure and if you are patient, through and very clever, you can take out an entire criminal organization in one swoop.
In Jamaica crime does not appear to be organized, we have splintered groups all over the country, with each person doing his or her own thing, which makes the task so much more difficult.
We therefore need assistance in tackling disorganized crime, our cops do not have the capacity, the tools or the skills required to frontally address this issue and the Minister with responsibility thinks charts and graphs are the way to manage crime.
Why have things taken a turn for the worse over the last 18 months?
I know the economic situation have gotten a lot worse, but that alone cannot be the real reason for the out of control nature of what is happening now.
The rule of law and order has all but disappeared and anarchy is slowly taking over. We have become so hardened by the brutality of criminal behaviour that no matter how heinous the crime is, we no longer feel strongly about it.
I spoke with a returning resident who only last year had returned to Jamaica after 30 yrs overseas. He told me he has put up his house for sale and will be returning to his adopted country, because he cannot see himself living a fulfilled life in Jamaica and dying a natural death.
How much longer is Portia Simpson Miller is going to remain quiet and not talk herself out of office, while our women gets raped and the young , middle aged and the old get murdered on a daily basis and the few who are caught walks free having secured freedom with the help of our top flight lawyers and a broken justice system.
How long Madame Prime Minister, how much longer do you expect us to wait before you and your team get off your collective rumps and do something for the people of Jamaica.
I never thought I would ever feel so strongly about the lack of a good future for Jamaicans in Jamaica, but sadly as much as I think this is one of the most beautiful countries on the planet, I cannot continue to pretended that we have not become a nation of savages, degenerates ,corruption laden and a lawless bunch.
I am tired , really really tired.

I can’t say I am surprise by what is now happening. This party was elected without presenting a plan to the country. What we have now is a government making up things as it goes along. Just bumbling from one crisis to the next.
The time has passed for Jamaicans to start think and ask the tough questions of persons wanting to represent us. The freebie votes because you come from a particular community must stop.
If the populous does not get involve and stop allow this virtual five year dictatorship from happening after each election cycle we will be forever doom in this situation.
Minister Bunting has not got a clue and is waiting for divine intervention to help the country. The dip in murders last year was met with wild celebrations and chest beating but carefully examining why it went down gave no clear reason. The police has been doing the same things year after year, so cannot be any new strategy they had employed last year.
Under this IMF programme things will only get grimmer because the funding needed to get on top crime will not be there thus further compounding our problem.
My answer is to leave if you can.
I am in total agreement. They are even incapable of making up as they go along but are picking up the ideas that they had poured scorn on when the previous party recommended them. Things they will be unable to implement because they really do not believe in them but grabbing at straw and will grab on anything. The security minister never had a plan and thought it would be easy going since Dudus was gone and he was the face of CRIME in Jamaica.
I put it to you that if an election were called now, they would win again. Check the literacy stats and you will realise what we are up against.
As dear Mutty P use to say, “things fall apart…” I do not encourage anybody to come now and I say run if you can. Under these people, it can only get worse.
