Massive Exodus of science and maths Teachers !

Commonsenseja has information that there has been a massive exodus of Maths and Science teacher from a number of high schools across Jamaica.

The entire Science Dept of St Thomas Technical High School we learned have left the school just ahead of the opening of new school year, leaving that school in turmoil.

Other schools affected are Papine High and Camperdown High School.

We understand that the teachers were recruited over the holidays and are heading to the USA and Eastern London.

We understand that teacher who are disgruntled with the meagre wage increases recently signed between the JTA have been signing up in droves to leave the class room in search of better wages.

This coming school year will be in for a very rocky start.

Can the Ministry of education respond to these reports .

The best honour the government can give our athletes is a growing economy and low crime environment

The best and most sustainable gifts that the government can give to our wonderful world beating athletes are:

  1. An economy that is generating growth
  2. A stable dollar
  3. A low crime environment
  4. A better health system
  5. An upgraded sports college

An economy that is growing, will allow our athletes to remain in Jamaica and setup up business after the retire so they can continue to earn an income until they move into retirement.

A stable dollar will provided a  greater level of stability in prices, thus allowing them to keep more of what they earn in the country

A low crime environment would allow them to freely move about without the very hieghten concern about being a victim of crime due to their perceived success from a monetary stand point

An improved health system, will keep more of them here, rather than flying all over the world to seek medical treatment

An upgraded and first class sport college give them the opportunity to pass on the skills they have learned in a comfortable and structured environment, so we can develop even more world beaters in the future.

No need for any damn fanfare that will fade away after 24 hrs, fix the darned country and that will be enough !

I am sure the PNP cannot deliver on the above and will therefore seek the low hanging fruit or merry making, which have no long term impact, its just the way the PNP operates.

Bless

Not even an easy Ministry as Sports can the Prime Minister get right

History will record current Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller as one of the most inactive Prime Minister (on local soil) that Jamaica has ever seen and possibly one of the worst on record in terms of performance . [ She is a very active traveler 🙂 ]

This Prime Minister, as I have said before rarely speaks or contributes anything to this country no matter the crises that the country appears to be going through. She only surfaces from hibernation to open an building, to cut a ribbon or a break ground with a symbolic pick axe and helmet, for a photo op.

Apart from these appearance , the PM is neither seen or heard leaving many to wonder if she even present in the country.

The Prime Minister most recently resurfaced from hibernation to tell the nation that she is ready for  national elections and that her incompetent bunch of ministers must saddle up and get ready also, whatever that means.

The prime Minister rarely speaks in the house of parliament, but if there is a feel good moment, she will speak, so many were not surprised that she would have spoken on the opening of Parliament yesterday, given our athletic performance in China.

The Prime Minister as Minister of Sports was full of praises for our athletes, but due to the fact that she hibernates so much, she appears to have been unaware of certain things, which once again brings to fore her competence as Prime Minister.

She congratulated Danielle Williams for winning the women 100m hurdles, but appeared to be unsure in this regard and when she turned to get confirmation from her incompetent bunch of cabinet minister, she was “corrected” and told it was  110m hurdles and so she “corrected” herself by say 110m hurdles.

Well, those of us who are more aware than the Prime Minister, would have known that it is the men that runs 110m hurdles and the women 100 m hurdles. So the Prime Minister was correct the first time around but was given wrong advise by her ” advisers” aka cabinet ministers.

She did not stop there, she went unto to congratulate Shericka Williams on winning the bronze medal in the women’s 400m flat race. Now because the Prime Minister spends so much time in hibernation, she appears not to have been aware that Shericka Williams is not longer representing Jamaica, having transferred her allegiance  to oil rich BAHRAIN  in July.

The person who won the bronze medal was in fact Shericka Jackson should have been the one who was congratulated . Her ministers either did not want to show her up or themselves did not know any better and hence the obvious gaffe was allowed to simply go unchallenged.

Some people may say, why is Jay making a big deal out of this and this would have been my response.

The information presented by the PM was inaccurate and should NOT have been, because it was publicly available information and virtually mistake proof. If the Prime Minister, her speech writers and her ministers can all get this type of information wrong and present it to the public, then what about the information that we are not privy to and are relying solely on what the Prime Minister and her cabinet monsters are saying to us ?

I do not take this lightly, in fact I see it as a major blunder on the part of the Prime Minister and that of her Cabinet colleagues .

I am not for one minute suggesting that our PM is beyond mistakes, no she is human, but when she rarely speak to the Jamaican people and finally decide to speak to us, for heavens sake please make an effort to get it right.

We know of her blunder because we have access to information and that is why it is important that the government be transparent in what it does and provide full disclosure so the people can review and make their own determination of what is being presented.

Bless.

Is it the tough economic climate that is pushing cops to become criminals ?

Corruption, extortion , collection of bribes have been part of the Jamaica Constabulary Force ( JCF) for a long time, but the sudden surge of criminal activities in the JCF over the last two years is astounding.

The general consensus is the harsh, no growth economic climate in Jamaica today is pushing ,more and more Jamaicans into criminal conduct, including members of the JCF.

It’s all well and good to say a person should live within there means and find a way to live, but when  a man cannot put food on his table and cannot make ends meet, he will do whatever he believes is necessary to survive.

In the last 24 years, the PNP has failed to engender any sort of economic growth in the country, which has resulted in increased poverty, a reduction in our standard of living, increased criminal activities including murder .

The current IMF program which is being embarked and being lauded as a success, will not change much, except to build the confidence of the lenders, who will now be of the belief, that we will be in a better position to pay them back for the large loans they have provided us over the years or will provide in the coming years.

If the economy does not grow as has been the case under PNP leadership, where will the money come from to pay off these loans?

Successive PNP government have always failed to bring about economic growth and if the PNP were to be given another 3 terms in government, nothing would change in that regard, the fact is they simply do not know what it takes to generate economic growth.

I urge people to think carefully  about the choice they make in the up coming elections, because we simply cannot afford the PNP experiment, its been way too costly.

The JLP on the other hand continues to do everything possible to avoid winning the next election, which leave the people aka the voters totally confused.

The big question is, can the JLP get it together in time for the next elections, because right now dem nuh ready yet.
