Barbados is at it again, with another inappropriate strip search

A British visitor is demanding an apology from the Immigration Department for what he calls the embarrassing and humiliating ordeal which his Vincentian girlfriend was put through when she arrived at Grantley Adams International Airport last Saturday.

Something strikes me that the Barbadian female immigration officers are lesbians , always trying to get to the private parts of female travelers.

Why is the PNP adding more people to the public sector ?

The IMF was very clear, when it spoke about public sector rationalization and about the need to have a smaller public sector. The JLP/PNP agreed in principle on the need to reduce the size of the public sector and public sector wage bill as a % of GDP.

Today we are finding party loyalist and activist being awarded jobs in the public sector, in top position, where those positions did not previously exist or were created to facilitate the individuals in question.

Mr Rose appointment as senior director highlights, what is wrong with Jamaica politics, as here we have a guy who was taken on board as a new employee to not only to add to the public sector wage bill, but to also add to the number of comrades in senior positions in the public sector.

What makes this case bad, was the persons in the position was removed and transferred elsewhere to facilitate the entry of Mr Rose. The position was never advertised as we are now told, in fact we are told they pulled a couple of resumes, which existed in the system and deemed that Mr Rose was the best candidate from all the resumes available, how convenient.

The lack of transparency in how this government operates is a huge disappointment and while I know we cannot expect too much in principle from the PNP, they have taken this thing to a new and even lower level.

Mr Rose may be a qualified person, I am not questioning his educational level at all, instead I am saying if he is that good, why not put him up against other candidates publicly and if he then comes out on top then so be it. Instead these folks who tek we fi ediat,  hand pick a few internal resumes, with the view in mind that, the one for Mr Rose, would no doubt be the best, thus presenting a  farcical position of transparency .

The minister said the following ” We wanted to ensure we have someone in the job, whose position reflected that of the administration .”

If that is not a clear indication of a selection process geared towards appointing a comrade to the job, then I don’t know what is.

The job of an employee in the public service is to follow the direction of those to whom he/she reports, so unless Mr Asrcott can clarify what he really meant to say, one can only conclude that this job had to go to a comrade as his(the comrade) position, would no doubt reflect that of the administration.

If come 2016 and the PNP is removed from power, I wonder if Noel Arscott would support the removal of all those persons employed whose thinking reflected that of the then PNP administration, because if he was correct when he first said what he said, he really cannot support comrades socialist thinking under a JLP administration.

Would Noel Arscott be prepared to say he supports the removal of all comrades from senior and key positions in the public sector and have then replaced with those whose thinking reflects that of the new government, or would that be considered to be political victimization ?
