Composition of the “New” NHT Board, let’s examine it.

Easton Douglas

Easton Douglas

Staunch PNP and a known supporter of the Prime Minister . No known skills in corporate governance and management of any large organization with billions of dollars in assets. Appears to have little of no appreciation or understands finance

Lambert Brown

Lambert Brown

Under his watch as President of the UAWU, thousands of Jamaicans became jobless and some homeless as many multinationals such as Goodyear fled Jamaica. A ardent supporter of the PNP especially of the PM. No known skills in corporate governance and has never led any multi-million dollar organization and main skills appears to be that of a good comrade.

Robert Buddan

Mr. Robert Buddan

He is a lecturer with the Department of Government at the University of the West Indies and does not appear to have any skeleton in his closet. No known political affiliation.

O’Neil Wilton Grant

O’Neil Wilton Grant

President of the Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA) and now appears to be lack integrity and a moral compass by refusing to resign and allow the Prime Minister to decide on a new structure of the board. His refusal to step aside does not allow for a full investigation by the AG and the CG and is bad for a country that is striving to a achieve good governance. No known political affiliation, but his commitment to transparency is questionable at best.

Percival LaTouche

Percival LaTouche

PNP activist, I need not say more. Never been part of any company in any senior management role and very little experience in corporate governance.

Vincent Morrison

Vincent Morrison

Past Presisdent of the NWU, which is an affiliate of the PNP. Brings nothing much to the table in terms of corporate governance

Sonia Hyman

Sonia Hyman

Ms  Hyman is the Director of Planning and Development at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM). Has been a public servant since 1982 and has served under both administrations.

Daisy Coke

First Black female to qualify as Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1970 and first president of the Caribbean Actuarial Association (CAA). No known political affiliations. Solid qualifications. Was awared order of Jamaica in 1982. Should be able to bring actuary skills to the board, if she can get past the political hacks.

Raymond Wilson –

Chairman of the Jamaica Police Federation.

Not sure what specials skills he brings to this position has he has never been responsible or have been part of any large organization in a senior management role . No Known political affiliation.

Clayton Hall

Past President of the JTA. Most past presidents of the JTA  traditionally ends up on the side of the PNP, with one exception being Ruel Ried.  It was under Mr Hall’s watch that a single employee stole over $60m dollars from the organization. To have him be part of a team with oversight responsibiity for billions of dollars is a real promotion.

Pastor Michael Harvey

His story is one of rags to where he is today and one who has worked very hard to get where he is today. As a pastor however I would have declined the roll given the controversy associated with the NHT at this point in time.

No known political affiliation at this time.

The board still has too many political hacks and or party sympathizers which does not sit well with me and many other well thinking Jamaicans.

The few independent  members of the board will all have a hard time as the other experience in getting past the very vocal politcal hacks and may have done themselves a great disservice by accepting the appointment at this point in time.

Bless
