Statement from the PNP women’s movement

FARCICAL NEWS from Jay News Network

The PNP women’s movement takes note of the very troubling allegations made against a member of the leadership of the PNP by a party member.

While its not our job to adjudicate on or pass judgement on the veracity of the statements made, we are deeply troubled by them.  We therefore want to urge the disciplinary committee of the party to fully investigate the claims made and spare no efforts to ensure that entire process in transparent.  The party should also ensure the public is kept abreast of the investigations to avoid any notion that the PNP will cover up or condone wrongdoing.

At a time when crimes against women are on the increase and the Holness administration seems powerless to stop the assault on our women, the PNP cannot be seen to be a party to this type of behaviour coming from within it ranks and as such we urge the Chairman of the disciplinary committee to provide timely updates to the nation on the progress of the investigations.

At the same time the PNP women’s movement is deeply concerned about the spate of attacks on our women. Just last evening we learned of the gruesome discovery of the body of a female believed to be that of the missing primary school teacher.

This is yet another in a serios of heinous acts being carried out on our women in Jamaica.

The PNP women’s movement is therefore calling on the Holness administration to get serious on crime and take the steps necessary to protect our women.

These attacks have been going on for far too long and we must move with urgency to bring them to an end.

We cannot sit back and allow the continue attacks on our females and as such we demand action.

We must end the constant PR and begin to take decision action to secure the country and end the scourge of violence .
