Barack Obama state of the Union address on 20/1/2015 was a gem !

I listened to most of the speech made by US President Barack Obama last night in his first state of the Union address on Al Jazeera and said to myself , ” will Jamaica ever have a leader who is not  just able to speak to the facts, but understand cleary what he is presenting and can also conceive and rally the people around a common cause , which will see the country surging forward”.

As I reflected on the pathetic speeches made by our current Prime Minister, one can clearly see the difference in one who wants to make a difference for their country vs one who simply wants to lead, for the history books.

Obama speech centered around bring jobs back to America, putting the American public back to work and equipping the young people in America with the skills required to take on the new jobs that will be created in the coming years.

He spoke about ensuring that those who were willing to work hard and stay focused being afforded at least two years of college education at no cost to those students, he spoke about the need to give young people a chance to become better educated and skilled and to leave college without the heavy burden of loans.

Barack Obama gave the young people in America hope, he has laid a carrot in front on them and all they need to do is to take it  and run with it.

Over in Jamaica, over 50% of the young people surveyed said they would throw away their Jamaica passport for opportunity in a foreign land as their is no hope in Jamaica.

The PNP has led Jamaica for almost 23 of the last 27 years, which is unprecedented, yet despite this long run, all we have to show is a run down economy, a failing health service, an education system that produces more illiterates than literates, a overstaffed and inefficient public sector filled with PNP political hacks, that is what we have.

This Prime Minister provides zero hope for the people of this country. She spends more time defending herself from constructive criticism that creating the conditions required to move the country forward.

I wonder how many Jamaicans took the time out to listen to a real leader one who clearly understands his job and one who is working for a better America vs simply having his party win the next election.

No other USA president has been disrespected as Obama, but he has not let this distract him, if anything it has made him work that much harder to create a better America for all Americans, sadly after 40 yrs in representational politics I cannot say the same about Portia Simpson Miller.
