Massive outbreak of Chikv in Eastern St Thomas !

The Minister of Health is Dr Fenton Ferguson, who also happens to be the Member of Parliament for Eastern St Thomas, which is currently experiencing the largest outbreak of the Chikv virus in Jamaica.

For the last two weeks students, teacher and other members of the parish have been falling to this virus without much being done by the health authorities to address, what is now turning out to be an epidemic.

The response from the Ministry of Health has been inadequate and best and once again shows that despite the information that is available, the PNP continues to make a mess of managing just about everything no matter how important that “thing” is.

I am very thankful that Chikv is not a deadly disease as if it was a significant amount of people in this part of the island would have been dead already and the government would continue to give wrong statistics in the pretense that things are under control.

We have a government , which is very good at giving speeches but is absolutely pitiful in executing anything of substance, which is putting the lives of hundreds and even thousands of Jamaicans at risk on a daily basis.

When folks in the Eastern parishes turn up at the hospital they are being told to go home and take paracetamol and in so doing no blood sample is being collected and hence confirmation cannot be made, leaving the minister and the ministry to say ” those many cases you here of have not been confirmed”.

It appears that this government is willing to go at lengths to pretend that all is well and its looking out for the people of this country, but from where I sit nothing could be further from the truth.

If we cannot control Chikv, I would like someone to tell me how are we going to control any disease that could kill eg ebola.

The response of this PNP government has been nothing but PR and no substance and is putting my lives at risk.

I doubt this will open the eyes of many Jamaicans, who are completely blind to what is going on and are being sacrificed in the process.

Folks it time to wake up.
