If Chikv was deadly, hundreds of Jamaicans would already be dead !

The recent outbreak of Chikv particulary in East St Thomas, Kingston and St Catherine once again highlights the gross incompetence of the PNP, when they are in government. We knew months in advance that Chikv was a problem in the wider Caribbean region, but yet Jamaican had no know case of the illness.

No sooner had the first case been confirmed, the virus appeared to have gathered “wings” and now Jamaica is on the brink of an epidemic, while those at the Ministry of Health continues to be in denial. The Minister has been passing out flyers etc to warn people about the illness as well as point to the symptoms of someone who has been afflicted with the illness, which is just one step in the process.

The people having now recognise what those symptoms are, have reported in hundreds of cases that they believe they have become infected but amazingly the Minister said many of these cases are flu and other illnesses that mimic the Chikv illness, now is that not interesting.

What the minister is attempting to do is downplay the abject failure of his government to protect the PEOPLE of Jamaica and their failings could have resulted in many deaths had this illness have a high mortality rate.

There is a old saying in Jamaica , which goes like this ” Tek sleep mark death”. If this administration could have failed some miserable on this one, that may God help this country should one case of a more deadly disease hit our shores.

The PNP failure here is symptomatic of their many failures in every aspect of Jamaicans lives and there is worse to come.

Jamaica is no passing IMF due to the fact that we are forced by circumstance to do what is required to get money from both the IMF and other multilateral agencies.

It therefore means that should the people of Jamaica (and by this I mean even if you support your party ), push and demand change, then those change must occur. The fact that we have not been pushing for change means we are comfortable with our current situation and as such the government sees no need to improve its overall performance, thus leaving the country in tatters.

The Chikv situation again highlights the gross incompetence of the Portia Simpson Miller led administration and Jamaicans once again have a good chance to assess how much the PNP cares about our interest and our lives.

Will Jamaicans rise up and demand better, I think not, we are all happy with the PNP destruction of the country while begging everyone else in the world for assistance.

The only time I think things will change is when the handouts no longer comes in, by which time it may be too late.

This is a wake call once again for Jamaicans.

Great PR by the PNP again but  absolutely atrocious performance in terms of delivery of corrective actions.

Chikv cases are well over 200 in Eastern St Thomas alone !!!!

Today, there is still no cohesive action plan from the government on how to tackle what is now an epidemic !

Great job once again by the spin doctors, but the pain that Chikv brings , continue to remind us how painful our love affair with the PNP have been and its not time to end that relationship !

One Response

  1. Once again, when incompetence rears its head within the PNP administartion, which is so often, they resort to telling us about “international norms”.

This morning the Minister of Health is telling us, the method being used to follow and report the number of chikv cases in ” in keeping with international reporting standards”.

The question is who gives a F#@K, when it its clear that the number of people afflicted with the illness is way more than what is being reported by the MOH.

Give me a freaking break guys !
This is the crap we continue to accpet, which is why we keep getting it.

Fenton your parish is a disaster zone and nothing of substance is being done to control the outbreak. Its people we are talking about dont’t you get that ?

I am so happy this is not deadly or we all would be F@#ked, while the government reassures us that its reporting of the cases meets international standards.

What this incompetent government does not get is OUR RESPONSE TO THE OUTBREAK DOES NOT MEET INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS.

    Damn these people
