When I was a youngster growing up amongst many Rastafarians, one of the thing I really admired about them was their humility and they way the treated and greeted each other. Back in those days, men would greet each other times like this ” Yow weh you a say King, long time mi nuh see d I”.
Fast forward to today where the greetings would be like this ” Yow mi dawg, weh you a seh dwag”
I am sure no dog and would NEVER subscribe to anyone calling me a dog. It was only a few years ago, you would be in serious trouble with someone for calling them a dog, but in today’s Jamaica a dawg means a young man.
Makes you wonder why we have such a high crime rate and the crimes have become more and more heinous, as men have moved from being Kings to Dawgs!

Urban slang being used in America for years. And as you know nuff Jamaicans love “farin” things so they picked up the slang also.

Absolutely correct! I notice that our young men and women these days keep referring to each other as niggers also. Now the men have picked up the American prison-style of their pants below the butt.
