IV Fluid Crises – Where is Federated Pharmaceutical ?

Today’s Gleaner has reported that people could die in Jamaica due to a shortage of Intravenous Fluids ( IV), which includes normal saline and dextrose solution. We are told this is due to a shortage of the fluids in the USA.

As far as I am aware, we have a local manufacturer of the fluids right here in Jamaica, which happens to be located on Bell Rd, Federated Pharmaceutical.

Are we suggesting that FP cannot meet local requirements to supplement what would normally be imported and if that is the case why are we not asking FP tp ramp up their production ?

It would be interesting to hear from the Ministry of Health on this one.
