Minster and their mistakes
Robert Pickergill
- Robert Pickersgill was the one who signed the contract and arranged the sale of the then Government owned JPS to Mirant. The company Mirant was one that was facing corruption charges in the USA and was on the brink of bankruptcy. The company did very little investment in the country, jacked up electricity prices and removed certain assets from the country, which were said to have been used to upgrade the system. They then sold JPS for a huge profit and were able to pay off the huge debt they had and extricate themselves from bankruptcy. Jamaica was left with higher energy cost that when they came despite the fact that energy cost were to have gone down, along with a oolder system that they had received. The cost is being borne by Jamaicans today
- Robert Pickersgill under the highway 2000 project, signed a contract that killed all prospect of rail into Kingston given the portion of the contract which said, any development for transport that caused a loss in projected revenue to the operators of HW 2000, would be borne by the people of Jamaica. The Portmore leg was never supposed to be a toll rd, but this minister and a naive public allowed it to happen at great cost to the people of Jamaica. Amazingly he is still there.
- This minister investment millions of dollars in rapid reponse water units, without any provision for repairs and maintenance as well as spare parts . The units disappeared as rapidly as they came and today we have nothing to show for that “investment”.
Omar Davis
- Under his watch the country experienced its biggest ever financial sector collapse, which virtually destroyed the Jamaican economy. Cost over $120b and counting.
- Under his watch (maybe another too) the country forward sold years of bauxite , resulting in billions of dollars in earnings. This occurred because even though metal prices was rising, we had already sold and collected pittance for our exports.
- Air Jamaica slot in london, given away at a fraction of the real cost.
Phillip Paulwell
- Netserv
- Cuban light bulb cost the people of Jamaica almost $200m and bulbs still missing
- Production train started rolling in St Thomas then derailed after millions of $ was in vested.
- $200m was spent on the Goodyear Tire factory in St Thomas which was to be an IT hub, today its a hub for goats.
- 381MW plant is about to go off track due to political interference by the minister, whose personal agenda appears to be in conflict with his substantive job.
Despite the momentous mistakes made by the minister sighted above, they still have their jobs and continue to “serve” (crap) to the people of Jamaica.
Had we had a ounce of decency and a yearning for accountability, none of these persons would be in office today.
What does this say about the Jamaican electorate and by extension, the people of Jamaica ?
You decide !

Jay, you left out the fact that Bobby Pickersgill’s decision to change the route of Highway 2000, between Linstead and Moneague, from the western side of Mount Diablo to the eastern side of Mount Diablo is the main reason why the Bushy Park to Ocho Rios leg is still incomplete. Additional cost to Jamaica for the STILL INCOMPLETE stretch just between Linstead and Moneague, over JM$15Billion and counting.
Thanks

These are all “TREASONOUS” acts which significant numbers of “power-brokers” benefited from. Until Jamaicans decide enough is enough this shit will continue. “Civil Society”, as these groups are called, are generally mouthpieces for the party that they favor and will continue to avoid IMPORTANT discussions. They are loudest on the issues that will not affect their “troughs”.
