People may wonder why I keep comparing Jamaica to Trinidad if you are one of those folks, then it because of the following:
- Both are english speaking
- Both are lead by female leaders
- Both have about the same period of independence
- One is doing better than the other.
I am interested in how T&T manages its affair vs Jamaica.
Now both Prime Minister are to attend a caricom summit in St Vincent and here are the two reports from the local papers of each country.
From Jamaica
Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller leaves the island today (Saturday March 8) for St Vincent, where she will attend the 25th Inter-Sessional meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community, CARICOM. The meeting is scheduled from March 9 to Match 11.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator A J Nicholson; Permanent Secretary in the OPM Onika Miller; Jamaica’s High Commissioner to Trinidad & Tobago, Sharon Saunders; along with other technical, support, security and communications staff of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the OPM and the Jamaica Information Service.
From Trinidad
PRIME Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is expected to travel to St Vincent today to attend the 25th Inter-Sessional meeting of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), where among other things the issue of decriminalising marijuana for medicinal purposes will be discussed.
The meeting is scheduled to end tomorrow.
Accompanying Persad-Bissessar will be a pool of local journalists.
