When the Energy Monitoring Committee meets with Phillip Paulwell on Thursday, Feb 6, 2014, we need for them to ask some probing questions and he must ne asked to come clean on any “secret deals” that may have been reached with EWC on this 360MW project.
Questions for the Peter Melhado led to to ask
- Concerning Financing, can the Minister confirm if the GOJ and specifically the Minister has been in contact with China to assist in providing financing to EWC via the China Exim Bank ?
- As part of these discussion, the plant in Jamaica, will be constructed by China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) with EWC providing technical support.
- Can the Minister confirm that the plant in Jamaica will begin with fuel oil before switching to LNG.
- Can the Minister confirm reports that in the deal for the Goat Islands as part of the logistics hub, the Government of China agreed to assist in providing financing to the 360 mw power plant provided EWI won the bid.
- Can the minister also confirm that as part of the deal, this newly constructed power plant will have a direct feed to the Chinese built logistics hub at goat island.
Commonsenseja would like some answers to those questions above.

I would not have a problem if the answers to all the questions were YES. Deals are made all the time – a deal to bring down electricity rates is fine by me.
