Passing the exam, but failing the course.

The Course.

Improve the lives of Jamaicans, by ensuring economic growth and development, job creation and providing security for the people of Jamaica.

Duration

4 yrs

The Exam

14  IMF quantitative test

Let’s examine the statistics before the instructor came ( IMF) and a year after he has been here to see how we are performing.

I would then like for persons to say if what they have seen has shown that the intended purpose of the course are being achieved after a year. Maybe early but these are the results.

Data complied from BOJ, PIOJ and STATIN and the national papers.

PRE IMF % Chg POST IMF % Chg
2012 2013
CATEGORY Start End Start End
# Murders NA 1097 NA 1200 9% Worse
Int Deb($JB) 851 886 4.1% 886 894 0.9% Worse
Ext Debt US$M 8626 8255 -4.3% 8255 8273 0.2% Worse
NIR 1967 1125 -42.8% 1125 835 -25.8% Worse
Inflation rate NA 8% NA 9.30% -16.25% Worse
Unemployment Rate NA 13.70% NA 16.30% -18.90% Worse
$J Depreciation 86.6 $91.14 6.90% 94.14 $106.38 13.00% Worse
GDP Growth (9 mths) -0.70% -0.9% -28.57% Worse

So we have passed all the Test so far and are celebrating, but the above represents what we are all celebrating.

I challenge anyone to present data to show otherwise.

This is as real as it gets.

Of course I could add cost of water, fuel, electricity and level of taxes for the two periods also and see what results I get, but I just did not have the time to search through all the data, maybe this weekend.
