Today the Prime Minister decided to respond to criticism from the sections of the Jamaican population about the lack of reports on the outcome of her many overseas travel.
True to form the Prime Minister choose to focus on the fact that people were saying she was travelling too much and lashed them for failing appreciate the fact that she was being invited by heads of Government overseas. The Prime Minister stated that those being critical of her were not interested in the outcome of the trips but were instead simply focused on being critical of her and she had no time for those folks.
She told the TVJ reporter that her trip to Venezuela was facilitated by a jet made available by the President of Venezuela to take her to and from that country for a very important Petrocaribe meeting. She went unto to mention that when she came back from China, she came with J$1.6B in grant not loans.
The Prime Minister was very strident in her defence and blasted those who choose to be critical of her travel vs appreciating the fact that those overseas were looking at Jamaica once again and this was good for the country.
The final statement by the Prime Minister absolutely floored me she said ” Those who are being critical of me are just a small section of the society who are only being critical because the right COLOUR was not in power”.
WTF !
I am stunned that the Jamaican Prime Minister who is the darling of the media , the poor and a large portion of Jamaica would make such an asinine statement considering the following facts.
- Edward Seaga was a “brown/white man” and one of the least loved politicians and who Jamaica had a love hate relationship with and who was rejected elections after elections.
- PJ Patterson was a “blackman”and won the most ever elections by a Prime Minister, he was also the longest-serving Prime Minister of Jamaica and never lost an election.
- Bruce Golding was a “brown man’ and Prime Minister for a very short period. When he screwed up he was severely criticized by Portia Simpson Miller and was eventually chased from office by the Jamaican people.
- Andrew Holness was a “brown man” and after just three months was rejected by the people of Jamaica.
- Portia Simpson Miller is a black woman and one a landslide victory over the “brown man” and gave him an ass whopping in the General elections as well as Parish Council elections.
Portia Simpson Miller continues to be led to believe people are critical of her for the following reasons
- She is a woman
- She is from humble beginning
- She is black
- She is not an intellect.
Her statement tonight was racist and classicist and affront to those in Jamaica who only want the best for this country and who are disappointed in the approach the Prime Minister has taken to governance.
It’s very obvious that the PNP believes this because just two days ago Peter Bunting said the same freaking thing.
Frankly I am f#$$king upset at the characterization of people like me by Portia Simpson Miller.
Commonsenseja therefore calls on the Prime Minister to withdraw that racist comment and publicly apologise to the people of Jamaica
So disappointed in the Prime Minister, she has descended to a new low !

I did not hear her statement, but based on your quote is it not more likely that she is referring not to the colour of her skin but the colour of her party? Thus rather than a brown vs black issue it is a green vs orange matter?
Absolutely not EJ, Peter Bunting made similar claims friday of last week when he said the people being critical of her were classist and racist.

Good try Portia tonight on CVM trying to give the impression you were talking about ” the party colour you are wearing” after your racist comment last evening on the same television station, in which you said ” the right colour was not in power” with much venom.

The PM has been the one who has been showing great disrespect to the people of this country by refusing to speak with us and report to us.

The racist and gender card is getting old and tiresome. PSM needs to do her damn work or walk. Apart of her job is to communicate with us – after all she is the Information Minister, remember. The PNP are PR machinery when it suits them but they are always so inept. As for Bunting defending PSM, he is such a hypocrite and I am sure PSM knows and must have chuckled when he came to her defense in that way. He was only trying to cover his inadequacies – FAILURE he is!
