The official reports from the Office of the Prime Minister as well as the Jamaica Information Service said.
Prime Minister the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller attended the Petro Caribe Heads of Government meeting in Caracas, Venezuela on Tuesday, December 17.

I decided to do some further checks on the veracity of this claim, to try and determine if the Prime Minister’s presence was really required for this trip. There was in fact a meeting, but its not the meeting to which the OPM or the JIS had referred to, which begs the question, why was it necessary for the already overburdened tax payer to fund an unnecessary trip by the Prime Minister, her Senior advisor and the security personnel, given that the Minister under who portfolio issues having to to with Petrocarbie falls, was already representing Jamaica.
Here is what was reported from the media in Venezuela
Caracas, Dec 12 (Prensa Latina) The countries of the Petrocaribe energy integration bloc will gather in this capital to discuss the creation of a regional economic zone, reported Foreign Minister Elias Jaua.
At a press conference, Jaua said the meeting, scheduled for Dec. 17, would also make it possible to advance toward the conclusion of a mechanism between that bloc and the Common Market of the South (Mercosur).

So Dr Davis, given that this week you were coming out in strong defence of the Prime Ministers travel, please explain to the Jamaican taxpayers, the REAL purpose of this trip and the additional expense incurred.
Looking forward to your explanation in the daily newspapers.
