Can we now hear the “Voice” of Portia Simpson Miller on crime and the economy

The Jamaican Prime Minister was one of the first (rightly so) to send congratulations to Jamaicans latest star Tessanne Chin for her first place position  on the NBC talent show  ” the voice”.

The Prime Minister said :

“You have been a fine ambassador for Jamaica during this gruelling competition and your voice, your victory, will now serve to set the new standard for others to follow. We in Jamaica … feel a special pride that you are one of us and we look forward to celebrating with you in a larger and appropriate way on your return to the island.”

Tessanne deserves every praise possible for her hard word and dedication despite all that was happening here in Jamaica and with her career going no where, listened to her mentor Shaggy, entered and the rest is now history.

Our Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller appears to live for moments like these, moments when things seem right, those soft moments when things are looking up and has the propensity to latch  unto those moments as if her life depended on it.

While this is no doubt a very proud moment for Jamaica and we appreciate fact that she has come out and given support and send congratulation to Tessanne, we now need to hear the “voice” of the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Portia Simpson Miller on the those tougher issues such as crime and the economy.

I am calling on Jamaicans to demand that they hear the “Voice” of our Prime Minister, who begged us for our support, whose voice we heard a lot when she was in opposition and campaigning to win the national elections.

The Prime has been in office for almost two years now and the only time we seem to see or hear from her, is when she is cutting ribbons, running up the steps from the Chinese or running across a newly opened bridge.

She is quick to let her voice be heard on those softer issues, but mentioned  corruption, crime or the economy and she will be heard telling you to get the microphone out of her face at best or at worst her security is likely to assault you.

I would like to voice concern on the behaviour of the Prime Minister and is even more concerned about the reaction of those around her, who believes her actions or lack thereof should never be questioned.

Let’s her the voice of our Prime Minister on Crime and the Economy.
