In recent times, Jamaicans have had to endure the indignity of being lectured by Trinidadians about why CARICOM is good for us, how to further our own interests, and the fact that our uncompetitiveness in CARICOM is only a small indication of our uncompetitiveness with the entire world. Maybe it is what we deserve.
In 1982, Jamaica had a 30 per cent trade surplus with CARICOM, which was reflected in a healthy growing economy. Since the early 1990s, this has degenerated into economic stagnation and a negative CARICOM trade balance of more than US$1.5 billion in 2008.

What Mr Clarke is essentially saying, is during the entire PNP administration, we have moved from having a trade surplus to now having a massive deficit thanks to the mismanagement of the country by the PNP.
I need not say another word.

Wtf?
Claude Clarke?
Hahahahahahaha!
That man doan even know when him a chat foolishness even when he comes close to admitting it. He talks about us being fooled by Trinidad and others but always skirts around the fact that Jamaica has had documented low productivity (which has almost always been decreasing or remaining stagnant since independence) and has been losing international competitiveness! Dat man delusion a baxide! As if a country wid dem features deh could really have a trade surplus with more competitive countries?!
Note, he talks about Jamaica having a trade surplus with Caricom until 1982. Which means that from caritas right up to Caricom from the 1960s to 1980s Jamaica had a trade surplus wid di rest of Caricom. Who was in power in 1982? The PNP? If so mi waaaah know a which high-grade being passed around and why Clarke and you nah share it!
By the way, anybody else ever notice that Claude Clarke always yapping about our exports and imports but as far as I know, the company he is managing director for (Richmond Valley Company) is not a member of the JEA and nuh export nutten…..
Maybe dat’s coz other countries won’t take bullshit, which is what he seems to excel at producing.
So all now nobody can say what exactly the Richmond Valley Company actually does or sells and what kind of clients they have, whether strictly local or any overseas ones?
Hmmmm…….
