There is a clear and present danger at the Donald Quarrie High School Pedestrian crossing going west towards the Harbour round about.
The problem was initially created by the NWA but has been exacerbated by unruly drivers who refuse to respect and stop behind the white line before the pedestrian crossing.
Now the problem is the position that the drivers going Westerly are supposed to stop is located only about 15 ft from the actual pedestrian cross and with drivers passing the point, pedestrians are literally left to walk a just a few feet from the car at pedestrian crossing.
We therefore have a situation where someone who is moving from North – South across the that stretch of road which is over 150 ft wide, is left stranded in middle of the road, when the light changes from red to green for the drivers.
It would therefore appear that the pedestrian is trying to cross the street when they should not, which is definitely not the case.
The NWA needs to move quickly to not only move back the westerly stop at least 50 ft, but they also needs to adjust the time the between the pedestrian gets a ” red no walking” to when when the driver gets a “green” signal.
This needs to be done before someone gets killed or is seriously injured by one of these manics on the road.
NWA over to you.
