The editorial is today’s Jamaica Observer is right on the money ”
Gov’t awaiting divine intervention as crime mounts
In the aftermath of the security forces operation in Tivoli Gardens in May 2010 to arrest Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke, the Government of the day sought to extend a State of Public Emergency that was limited to sections of Kingston and St Andrew.
The rationale for the proposed extension was that the measure had reaped great success in the fight against crime. Criminals were in retreat — most went into hiding — and a sense of order was returning to the country.
Stupidly, the then Opposition, which now forms the Government, rejected the proposals in what appeared to be a vote-catching exercise.
The above statement by the Jamaica Observer coming over 3 years after the event is yet another sad reminder of the dirty political games being played in this country and how far the PNP will go in their quest to assume state power.
It is yet another reminder of that now infamous statement by the now Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller ” We will be your worst nightmare”.
Sadly that nightmare continues 6 years after that statement was made and rather than trying to confront the nations issues, the Prime Minister continues to hide from the Jamaican public and now refused to been seen by the headlights.
Our dear Prime Minister who would chair a press conference every week particular in 2011, has not faced the Jamaican Press in two years and has addressed the Nation only once.
What a great Prime Minister we have in Portia.
The statement by the Bajan Minister yesterday was very loaded and many persons seem to have missed the hidden undertones, because we got caught up in defending the “rot” he described in Jamaica.
This is the statement that most Jamaicans overlooked
” Barbados is in safe hands”.
The subtle message is Jamaica is a mess and it’s leader is unsure ie the country has no good leadership, which is a jab at the leadership of Portia Simpson Miller.
OJ Nicholson, did you miss that or in your rush to be a good caricom man, you simply ignored it.
