The Gleaner headlines today blared “ Killers roam Free”.
It tells a chilling message of how you are likely to be one of 1200 persons murdered in Jamaica on an annual basis and only 10% chance of anyone being convicted of your murder.
These results paint a picture of not only a lawless society, but also one of a inept justice system, that is more than likely will never give you justice.
It paints a picture of a country that is devoid of leadership and of a people who have no interest in the accountable. Let’s examine the chilling numbers for a second.
Consider a Principal of a private High School, where on average only 10% of the students are able to achieve a high school diploma at the end of their school life. Consider also a CEO of an organization, where on average it only achieves 10% of its stated objectives.
In the two cases above, chances are the two persons involved, would have been dismissed by the board of directors for failing to carry out their task.
The Minister of National Security is the one with ultimate responsibility for the nation’s security, he has at his disposal all the requisite tools to carry out his job effectively ( he has not said otherwise) yet he continues to fail miserably, so why does he still have a job?
Until the people of Jamaica decide that blood spilled has no other colour than red and at the end of the day we are all Jamaicans, then NOTHING will change.
The country had the ascendancy in 2010 after the Tivoli incursion, but the then opposition PNP led by Peter Bunting, REFUSED to support the extension of the State of Emergency, saying the police has all the tools necessary at their disposal to continue the fight, without an extension of the State of Emergency.
Peter Bunting, please tell this country, why after two years you have failed so miserably as a Minister and under your watch over 2300 Jamaicans have been murdered and ( based on the numbers ) only 23 cases we would have had a conviction.
Then tell us sir what plans are now being put in place to not only improve the conviction rate, but to stop the bloodletting.
I weep for Jamaica , I truly do !
The PNP has been our worst NIGHTMARE for the past 6 years and I have no doubt this will continue for sometime to come.
Run if you can, that is my advice.

Why is the country giving Peter Bunting a free ride ?
