The 61 yr old average age shadow cabinet announced by young Andrew Holness is a betrayal of the very youth , new and different message he campaigned on, leading up to his re-election.
When one looks at the shadow cabinet, what you see is a group of old people who have spent most of their political life being in opposition and have very little idea of how to win a General election for their party.
The last JLP election was not won by the likes of Pernel Charles, Karl Samauda, Derrick Smith etc, instead it was the so called young turks, Daryl Vaz, Chris Tufton and Bobby Montague who pushed to have Bruce and who were able to corrall the funds required to run a decent campaign. They won but could not hold unto to power after Holness became leader and now we can get a clearer picture of why Holness lost to the inept PNP.
When the PNP can beat you and they the PNP are so terrible at management of the country, then you know that something is seriously wrong with the people who are aroud you advising you.
The Shadow Cabinet appears to give an indication of the people who supported Andrew Holness and who may have given him “good” advice in the run up to the 2011 General elections. A close look at these members shows folks who have no idea how to win a national election having spent most of the time on the opposition benches loses after losses.
Lest do a quick analysis.
Pernel Charles yrs in politics ~ 45
Yrs in power 13
Yrs in opposition 32
Ratio : 28% in power 72% in opposition.
I think I need to stop here, this is the sad tale of the tape.
Andrew Holness needs to be a tad bit smarter and look at the real numbers !
A dat me seh.

I’m afraid that Holness will listen to these dinosaurs to victimize Shaw’s supporters thus further divide the party. When I hear Samuda talking about sanctioning Shaw I had to shake my head. This is from a man who left the JLP to join the PNP and spoke some very disparaging things about the party.
I hope Holiness will let good sense prevail in order to prevent a 1990’s deja vu for the JLP.
