PNP strategist and forme Prime Minister PJ Patterson has been quietly moving around and encouraging folks to become a part of the PNP as he moves not only to strengthen the base of the party but to also add to the middle of the party.
We are being told this is being done in earnest so as to ensure a PNP win, when elections are called either towards the end of next year or early 2015.
It is widely felt in the PNP circles that given the bitter JLP fight currently taking place, the JLP will not be able to unite next year and thus will not be able to become a viable opposition and cannot sustain an election campaign, thus paving the way for a runaway PNP victory, late next year of early 2015.
We are told that a number of key projects must however begin come next year to virtually lock up a PNP victory before the campaigning begins and these are namely
- The 360mw plant, which is said will reduce electricity cost in Jamaica
- The Logistics Hub at Goat island.
These two projects have a combined value of US$2.2B or J$220B and would be the biggest thing to have happened to Jamaica in over 4 decades.
The winning startegy is now being worked on by PJ Patterson and from what I have been able to gather, the JLP leadership battle have made the work of PJ Patterson and his team a lot easier.
Word on the street and from what I have been able to pick up is that many labourites are bitter and utterly disgusted at the levels that the leadership has descended into and have vowed to leave that party for good.
Some comments
” Yow de man dem a some B@#@ Cl@@T ediat eno, look how d man dem a fite gainst dem one a anoda while PNP a F@# up d country, a fool dem iya”.

” Jay, I am so disappointed with the stance taken by members of the JLP, especially the so called stalwarts of the party, but guess what I am not too surprised. The JLP by virtue of what has taken place so far cannot unite in time and the PNP will exploit this to the max and in so doing condemn the JLP to opposition for a long time to come. The JLP has failed to capitalize on the managerial weakness that exist in the PNP and have only reaffirmed the public belief that they are a divisive bunch of wannabee leaders, I am uttterly disgusted and is walking away. I do not want to be associated with this party any more. I will tell you further that many persons in my circle are saying the same thing.”
” Jay, I have lost hope in the ability of the JLP to win the next or any other election and for me this leadership race no longer means anything. Come November 10, whoever wins, will not be able to mend the deep wounds in the party and they have much chance of a snowball in hell against PJ Patterson , Portia and an effective PNP election machinery. The JLP has played to the media and they the media has used the JLP to destroy themselves in the eyes of the public. I am no longer interest in being associated with this dysfunctional bunch”
The writing appears to be on the wall folks, the JLP appears to have successfully condemned themselves to another term sitting on the opposition bench as they fight tooth and nail to select an opposition leader.
