The rise to power of the PNP has herald in a new period of lawlessness that the country was overcoming after the TG 2010 incursion, which saw criminals cowering in fear and running into hiding and even leaving the country.
Persons celebrated the return of the PNP to power after Portia Simpson Miller’s promised in 2007 to be the JLP’s worst nightmare and truly delivered on that promise. I heard people saying, the music can go until daylight, the hustling can start again, they can resume ” d runnings” and a return to plethora of social ills that were being outlawed in the country.
When a society continually overlook the small things , the small wrongs, the persons involved becomes embolden and start doing even bigger things and when these too are ignored, before long we have an out of control situation, which is where Jamaican finds itself t today.
The criminal elements in Jamaica have decided to, in keeping with the PNP promise to “tun up d ting” have upped the ante and have been mercilessly slaughtering Jamaicans at a frightening pace, leaving many cowering in fear afraid to venture on the outside.
Not satisfied with murdering men, they have now turned on the kids, women and even the unborn as was on display recently in Portmore where a 7 months pregnant women was shot in the head and the abdomen, ensuring that even if she survived the child would not.
What is more frightening is the criminals elements have also now declared open day on cops, picking them off in broad daylight or in the nights. They are no longer waiting for the cops to engage them, instead they are taking the fight to the cops, in what appears to be a plan to take control of the streets and take over from the legitimate rule of law and order.
When criminals begin to seek out and attack law enforcement, with the regularity we now see on display, its clear sign that d ting tun up way too high now.
What is amazing and it’s a question I have been asked by friends both local and overseas, is why isa the Prime Minister and Minister of what call now only be called the Minister on Insecurity are so silent on this national emergency and why has the public been so mute, only reacting when a “Don” has been disposed off.
The situation in Jamaica, requires nothing less then a state of national emergency. The United States of America has recognize the clear and present danger in Jamaica and took the proactive step to declare a “ Travel Advisory” on Jamaica, in order to protect the lives of Americans living in or visiting Jamaica, that is how much the USA loves its nationals and will do whatever it takes to protect them, even if that means shaming any other country in the process. What has our Prime Minister done in this regard ?
A USA travel advisory should not and cannot be taken lightly, but amazingly I have not heard a response from either the Minister on Insecurity or the Prime Minister and this travel advisory has this been reported widely in the media, why?
Are we fearful that by highlighting the Travel Advisory the visitors will stop coming and thus damaging the tourism product?
PortIa Simpson Miller promised to be our worst nightmare back in 2007, it’s now 2013 and I am seeing my worst nightmare imaginable, when will it be over ?
How many more poor, black, working class lives will be lost before something drastic is done to curtail this daily dose of horrific murders that have over taken Jamaica. Are we going to continue to sit by and allow the first female Prime Minister of Jamaica to continue her stony silence on what is a State of National Emergency ?
What actions are Jamaicans willing to take today to end this madness ?
The pressure is building and something has got to give, we can either choose to make this a controlled released or simply sit back in silence and allow the lid to blow off thus causing irreparable damage to the country, its the Prime Ministers choice.
Over to you madame Prime Minister, act before it’s too late.
