The day is Wednesday, September 18, 2013 and the employees of a certain organization was set to provide its usual update on the state of affairs on the operation of the entity that they have been placed to manage by virtue of their experience etc.

The Q& A session is about to begin and the Chief spokesperson for the management team  employee to manage the affairs of the entiry decides to set the tone for the QA Session

Employee spokesperson : I know you (the employer) have a lot of questions on the recently concluded investigative report done the office so authorized to complete investigation of this nature. I am referring to the recently tabled reports, which looked into the conduct of two fellow employees. We however have not had time to review these reports and so will not be fielding any questions in that regard.

Employer Representative  :  So Madame spokesperson, are you telling us, your employer, the persons who hired you, that you will refuse to answer question we ask on matters relating to the conduct of people we hired for a particular job.

Employee spokesperson : Well as I said before we have not had time to review the report and as such we are not in a position to comment on the contents contained in that report. We will take any other questions relating to other areas of our performance, so if there are any such questions we will field them.

Employer Representative : Madame spokesperson, we would like to know what is the position of the Most Senior Manager employed by us on this issue?

Employee spokesperson : With all due the respect , that Senior Manager only got a copy of the report on Tuesday and so she has not had time to review the report and so I am not in a position so say when we will be to draft a response to the report.

Employer Representative : Madame spokesperson, but the office on the investigator indicated that they forwarded a copy of the report to the manager from Monday, so why today, we are still not able to get answers and worse of all, we don’t know when we will be able to get answers.

Employee Spokesperson : Well the manager only got a report on Tuesday so maybe you should go and ask the investigator when he sent that report.

Employer Representative : Madame spokesperson, with all due respect, you came here ill prepared to respond to our questions. Not only do I find your responses empty, I also find them bordering on being dismissive and rude. You have had this report now for over 24hrs, we expect that your team would have taken the time out to look at the report and formulate a response to be presented today.

We find your position unacceptable and we will terminate the conversation at this point and you need to go and meet with members of your team and have a response formulated within next 48hrs. We expect that at the end of that 48hrs period, we will once again meet and we expect you to be able to respond intelligently to the questions we have and expect you will have a decision on the faith of at least one member of your team.

Failing that, please come prepared with your resignation and we will have nothing less. Accountability must be the order of the day, you have been placed in a position to manage and managed effectively and we expect nothing less.

This press briefing is over, please reconvene another meeting in 48hrs, thank you.

The last portion was how that press conference was supposed to have ended, but it did not, so the question is, who really is going to bell the cat?

  1. And people thought Vaz was bad. If this is only the second year of the first term and the government is acting like this I shudder to think what will happen in the latter part or God forbid a second term.

  2. …and Trafigura is BACK – NO DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY says the Constitution Court. Will be an interesting Conference this weekend.

  3. I guess by now you would have figured out that I a referring to Sandrea Falconer whose salary is being paid by tax payers and her response to the media, which is kinda of a watchdog for the people of Jamaica.

This is how government in Jamaica operates, they become the employer and not the employee and the people simply sit back and allows it to happen.

  4. Yer they are the ‘backra’ masters, not the servants! Arrogant and Insolent!
