Why does members of the local media houses continues to subject themselves to the gross disrespect that is shown to them on a now consistent basis by members of the PNP Administration starting with the Prime Minister and down to the Information Minister.
I cannot recall ever before , a Government of Jamaican’s chief spokespersons, showing up at a press conference and attempting to muzzle the press. I cannot recall an information minister before the start of a press conference telling journalist, he/she will not be answering any questions on matters of significant national interest and getting away with it.
I was dumbfounded when the current information minister took her stuff and attempted to leave the room, in face of a relentless media , who were rightfully so demanding answers to questions of national importance .
I was also shocked when the microphone of a member of the RJR news team was turned off in a attempt to silence him and preventing him from asking any further question of the now infamous Minister of Mis-Information or should I say the Minister of No Information.
She was rude and abrasive and appears to have contempt for the journalist present as she continues to thump her nose and them and in this particular case trying to determine the type of questions and how many questions a particular journalist could ask.
I found the entire episode disturbing and is calling on the Press Association of Jamaica to speak out against what is becoming a government, which not only refuses to speak to the people of the country, but also one who is unwilling to provide answers to the media, so they can keep the public informed.
How long will the Jamaican media continue to accept this gross disrespect from the Portia Simpson Miller led administration and in particular the Minister of No Information.
Why did the press not walkout when she started the meeting by suggesting they ask no questions about the two most talked about issues in Jamaica today instead of subjecting themselves to the contemptuous attitude of the Minister of No Information?
It beats me, surely it does.

This is what you get for coddling politicians. Because of the media kid gloves approach to PSM, she and her administration feel perfectly justified in treating the press with contempt.
Now I hear that the BBC has taken up this matter and two of their reporters can be heard mocking what is happening in Jamaica.
This unelected “Information Minister” rubs me the wrong way.
Folks take note, this post was September 2013 and its the very same display we see from Sandrea Falconer who has been now joined by Huntley the “Mic Snatching” Medley.
Once again we shall see a female response from the PAJ etal.
I am keeping check on these events as can be seen by this most recent comment.
Memory may fade but the information is here to stay, the net shall not forget !!
