Many labourites are delusional and continue to believe that they must and should support a leader, just because he happens to be the leader and any challenge to his leadership is a show of disunity in the party.
Let’s face the fact, the JLP as a party does not appear to support the democratic principle it speaks to at a national level, when it comes unto selection or better yet election for leadership of the party.
This party has never demonstrated the ability to stage a good leadership race in its 70yrs history and the farce that appeared to be an attempt at that in 1992 under eddie, left many labourites battered and bruised as the might of TG was brought out to ensure eddie was “elected” leader. TG is not what it used to be anymore and so this will not be a factor in this leadership race come November.
So why do I think a win for Andrew is a win for the PNP?
The hierarchy of the JLP appears to have a love affair with losers and the leader in the JLP often times want to be in total control with no dissent at all. He often indicates that people are trying to undermine his leadership and does not give him their full support. We saw it with Eddie, we saw it with Bruce, in case of the later he walked away and now we hear the same thing from Andrew
Eddie was given strong support ( or coerced people to support him) even after the the rest of Jamaica came to the realization that the JLP could not win an election with Eddie as leader, but yet the JLP persisted with him because a “challenge” could not be contemplated. The rest is history.
Andrew Holness has lost two major elections, he not just lost, he and the JLP were massacred by a rampant PNP, who pulled out all the stops to dethrone the heir apparent and after 3 months he was opposition leader and not Prime Minister.
The PNP is doing bad, make not bones about it, but a Andrew Holness led JLP will stand as much of a chance as a snowball in hell vs Portia Simpson Miller, the poor people champion, PJ Patterson the strategist and a well oiled PNP machinery.
Should Andrew Holness retain leadership of the JLP, that party will spend at least another two terms in office and Andrew Holness will pass Eddie as the longest serving opposition leader.
A dat me seh.

Seems like I an uncanny ability to call it right.
Oh please Jay, I am the one who called out Holness long before the pre-signed letter came to light.
Jay, stop it, you were always obsessed with PSM, not noting that Holness was a “young fossil”
That Observer Editorial was like a goos leather strap toHolness’ pathetic rear end.
