Haiti has been the butt of jokes for many in the Caribbean including Jamaica , who has said that country is one place in the world where they probably would never want their country to become and for good reason.
Haiti has had a tumultuous record after over 209 yrs on independence, they have had despotic rule , coup, massive earthquakes, denude hillsides resulting if floods, disease etc but they have not thrown the towel.
They are poor, dirt port, unemployment officially is about 40.6% but it’s said to be more like 75%, the average family lives on a measly US$5.00 per day.
Given all the above it seems like doom and gloom, but Haiti is determined to bounce back, its determined to move from the bottom of the pile and leave that for some other country and they are taking concrete steps in order to achieve this feat.
Haiti is about to make major transition, while Jamaica remains rooted in the starting blocks

Yesterday, Holness, a Jamaican-born Canadian producer, told the weekly Jamaica Observer Monday Exchange of the obstacles she and her team encountered in getting the Jamaican Government on board to ensure the production was done locally.
