Andrew Holness keeps saying he represents the new style of politics in Jamaica and his approach is what Jamaica needs today. Personally I like his non confrontational approach but I never liked how he choose to remain quiet and his failure to energize the base of the party.
For the better part of 18 months in opposition Andrew was quiet, hardly moving to attack the policies of the PNP who were and still are on a rampage and destroying what is left of Jamaica. It took a challenge from Audley Shaw to wake up a sleeping Andrew Holness and the rest of the JLP.
Having woken up, all hell seems to have broken loose, with Andrew Holness and his side acting like how I would have expected Audley and his camp to behave . Quite surprisingly Audley’s camp is the one calling for calm, restraint and not only calling out for that, but the more importantly are acting it out.
On the other hand, it’s in Andrew Holness’s camp ( A man who is supposed to be new, different, non confrontational), which we are witnessing what can only be considered true old style confrontational and throw back politics.
Its Andrew’s camp we hear vitriol, caustic and undemocratic comments , sheer anger and outright ” thugish” behaviour not witnessed since 1992, when Pernel Charles was attacked and battered with a pick axe stick at the National Arena for daring to support Edward Seaga’s opponent.
Andrew Holness appears to have lost ( did he have) total control of the labour party, with people doing just about anything and claiming to support Andrew’s Camp in the process. This is certainly not new and different, there is nothing transformational about this at all. If Andrew cannot get his ideas of transformation at the grass-roots level of his party, how on earth does he plan to do it for the country.
Audley on the campaign trail is acting new and different and appears to want to change the way challenges are approached in the JLP. On the other hand Andrew Holness is doing exactly what people like Edward Seaga used to do and has the support of the “thugish” elements of the labour party.
Andrew Holness now needs to walk the talk if he can.

Jay, I have written to this effect in this blog over and over. Thank you for finally agreeing with me. Even if he wins the contest, Holness will never win a general election – he is old wine is old wine skins.
You have just seen the light!
Lol!! Poor us!! Portia can go back to sleep.
The daily observer says JLP at war. I expressed these sentiments in the yesterday in the above post.

Two old school politicians at it, with Seaga protege Babsy (warmonger) Grange attacking Joan (former warmonger) Gordon Webley.
Well as I have said Andrew Holness is certainly not new and different and certainly not a good leader, given what we see occurring with people who claim to support him.
Time for Turthlives to return, because at the rate at which these idiots are going it looks like PNP will be in power for much longer than I would have liked.
What a sorry bunch.
