This was an article written to the editor in the Jamaica Gleaner, which I found interesting. Given that Jamaica is now independent, I wonder if this lease is still legally binding, I suspect not.
The recent discussions about Goat Islands make for some very interesting reading. One aspect which has not been raised, at least not publicly, is the fact that the agreement of September 2, 1940 between the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US) contains within it a 99-year lease for the entire area of approximately 150 acres.

I find it hard to believe that our government was not aware of the existence of this lease.
Bert Samuels appear to be spot on given this document from USA state department.

I would like to know if the 99 year lease between USA & UK for Goat Island is still valid, and if the Chinese can still lease the Island for its HUB.
