I said I would have addressed the maintenance component of the JUTC issues once I gave it some more thought and I will do so shortly, but in the interim I would like to ask a few questions, that hopefully we can get answers for.
- Is each JUTC route treated as a separate cost center?
- Are their accounting records for the cost of operating on each route?
- Is there a fixed amount of equipment and personal assigned to each route?
- How is that process (in 3) if it exist, managed ?
- Do we know the whereabouts of each bus that have been assigned to each on a hr by hr basis?
- Do we a central nerve/control center that addresses dispatching of buses along the various route and how is that process managed?
- Is there a process that switches buses to different routes to match passenger loads during the course of the day and if so how is that process working?
- Is there a process in place that looks at and manages the fuel consumption per bus per route and if that exist, how is that data used?
- Is there a process to track the mileage per bus per route ?
- Does JUTC use benchmarking to determine ifs its energy utilization index is comparable with other mass transit systems around the world.
- How does the JUTC measure its energy utilization and cost , Is that derived from total number of fuel consumed, total passenger load, total revenue for bus and total km/miles traveled
- Does JUTC know the fuel consumption per bus and how that compares to the standard from the equipment manufacturer.
- Does JUTC know the total operating cost and revenue generated for every bus on every route ?
I hope I can be able to submit these questions to parliamentary committee to which the JUTC will be called next week, so we can get answers that hopefully can lead to an improved financial situation at the JUTC.
I am not sure how Colin Campbell got the job ahead of me, ops I almost forget, he is a good comrade and I am not 🙂
BTW I heard Colin Campbell attempting to do an interview on Nationwide News Network on Monday afternoon and I was embarrassed for him, he had no answers and gave very flippant responses to the questions that were being asked.
If it was me and only being 1 week on the job, I would have declined that interview and given myself enough time to acquaint myself with what is going on, but no he appeared on the interview and as good comrades do, talk a lot without saying anything substantive.
