Shelly Ann was good, but school boy Javon Francis was awesome

Shelly Ann Frazer Pryce has cemented her place in the history books as one of only 3 females to have ever won the sprint double at the World Championship. The “pocket rocket” as she is called today sped to another gold medal in the 200m and is now deserving of a national award, so over to you Prime Minister.

The performance of the day must however go to 18 yr old Javon Francis, who delivered a wonderful run in the  4 x400m relay to give Jamaica a silver medal. Javon got the baton in 5th position and when it looked like Jamaica was going to be left out of the medal podium, he “tun up d ting” on the back leg and ran past three athletes to get into the silver position just about the 200m mark.

A tiring Javon held off the fast finishing bronze medal winner, showing grit, guts and determination and was rewarded with silverware.

Congrats to Javon, well done son, you did yourself and your country proud.

  1. Congrats guys!!!!

  2. Great job by Shelly Ann but I do not think it warrants national awards, neither did I think Bolt should have gotten the OJ but it was given to him to overshadow the Dudus saga.

What the government needs to do is to start a fund that can assist the young athletes we are coming up, some of whom do not even have a comfortable place to live with freedom to come out and train, do not have proper diet or clothing. There are quite a few of them right here in Kingston now.
