The JLP is once again demonstrating that it’s party that appears to have no idea how to behave and act like a party in waiting for leadership of the country. Last night the JLP had a meeting at its Belmont rd address and the meeting appeared to be going well until all hell broke loose. This occurred after Desmond Mckenzie accused former General Secretary Andre Franklyn of working with a newly formed group headed by Joan Gorden -Webley to challenge party leader Andrew Holness at the next JLP annual conference.
Andre Franklyn took exception to what Desmond McKenzie had to say and demand a retraction of that statement and when that was not forth coming, Andre reportedly launched a verbal attack on Mr McKenzie lasting for the better part of 30 minutes. Our sources told us that during this assault, the party leader Andrew Holness sat silent, before leaving the room , only to return later.
We understand that on his return Andrew Holness delivered what is being considered a chilling message. We were informed that Mr Holness reportedly told the group that anyone who thinks they can challenge him at the party’s annual conference and believes that they can get his support in a General election , has another guess coming. He did not stop there, he is reported to have said he has “dirt” on all those potential challengers and would NOT be afraid to use that “dirt” in any run off for leadership of the party.
He also told the group that he is tired of the constant “almshouse” ( my words) in the party and will moving with dispatch now to remove ever last one of those who considered to be part of the constant dissent within the party.
Personally I believe that Andrew Holness is not the right guy to lead the JLP if they intend to wrest power from the PNP come 2016, but I think the way the party is going about doing what needs to be done is wrong plain and simple.
If the party cannot get its act together and in a hurry, then they would have once again muffed any chance they have of capitalizing on the wave of dissent and dissatisfaction that exist today as it relates to the running of the country by the PNP.
One thing that always seem to pop up is as soon as the PNP comes under pressure as in the case now due to the recent election loss, there always appears to be some “conflict” being reported in the JLP and one is left to wonder if this is a mere coincidence of a deliberate strategy on the part of someone or some “moles” within the JLP.
Someone said ” Jay a u start up this ting, nuh did say in a post a few weeks ago that Andrew Holness needs to be challenged at the next party conference, well this is it”.
I chuckled and said, ” man u a gee me too much credit iyah”

Why is this party so averse to a leadership election?
Sam,
You guess is as good as mine.
where is the source of this writing ?. This report was carried word for word on Nationwdide news. Dr. Chang followed up on same program to refute the quotes made about Andrew. but would offer no comments about the meeting save that it was a private meeting where robust discussions are held
Why are you asking about the source of this information?
The JLP nuh keep nuttin secret, u nuh know dat. As soon as dem have a meeting “sources” on the inside mek we know what a gwan.

I think there ought to be a challenge to settle the leadership selection once and for all but if there is nobody with the balls to declare their hands so the campaign for leadership can get underway, they are not deserving of it.
I think Andrew need to be change..We will never win an election with him
