Jamaica (far too many) are of the misconceived notion that if you speak up against something, then you are anti that things vs wanting to see what is right.
Commonsenseja relentless critique of the PNP , should not be taken as an attack on the PNP and or its leadership, but more so a demand for better governance of the affairs of the country by the PNP.
Let me give readers a quick example of the paradox in Jamaica.
Joe learns that someone is bringing stuff into the country without paying the required duty and is able to sell his goods for a lower price than Joe. He (Joe) is furious and launches a blistering attack on customs telling me how corrupt they are.
Few months later Joe finds a link and is now able to pay very little duty on his imports. He proudly boast how he has managed to beat the system and if I have anything to bring in I must link him, because he have the ” real links”.
Joe does not believe his link is corrupt, in fact he believes his link on the inside is a good guy, because he ( the customs guy) has made Joe life so much easier and he does not have to now pay out so much the GOJ and in turn he (Joe) makes more money.
The reality is Jamaicans cry out for corruption, only when they are NOT the beneficiary, but as long as they make money from the very same corrupt acts, it no longer corruption, its instead “beating the system”.
The PNP in my estimation has been the party which more seeks to embrace corruption, not necessarily by doing corrupt acts themselves, but more so by allowing it to take place under their watch and not doing enough to prevent the acts from taking place or stamping them out once they have been identified.
The other thing I find more with the PNP that the other party is the grand deception being used against the poor and marginalized in this country as they seek to gain power at all cost. The Michael Manley legacy of looking out for the poor is what keeps the poor holding unto the party, hoping that someone will eventually emerge who will dole out handouts like what existed before.
Portia Simpson Miller was pushed forward as that person ie she is one of us, she was not born into wealth and as such would have understood the plight of the poor and do more than anyone else to help the poor.
What has been missing from the PNP strategy however is real economic growth and development, which would have gone a tremendous way in ensuring that the poor can in fact get the help they so desperately require. Instead they have been played for fools by these folks who knows how to reach out to this group( the poor) and continue the grand deception.
The JLP on the other hand is seen as a cold bunch of brown skin folks, who are more concerned about the economy than the people and so are not into social programs to help this large group of Jamaicans.
We like to be made to feel important, we want someone to tell us they care about us and have our interest at heart and this is what the PNP are good at.
If the PNP could just use that goodwill it has, the grass root support, support of the media and academia to fix the freaking economy, crime, education and healthcare, trust me they would have my 100% support.
What I will not however support is mediocrity and incompetence from any one , that’s just NOT in my playbook. I believe people must be given very specific objectives and the tools they need to do they job and then, they must be held accountable for the results.
That is my mantra, its simple there is no personal attachment, it’s all about being result oriented.

I concur. Since the Michael Manley era of the 1970s the electorate has been with the PNP. Giving them more than enough opportunities to make the country better and they have squandered them.
Jay you do not need to justify your positions for anybody. If they do not like the blog, they shouldn’t read it
