It’s not about protecting the poor.
It’s not about balancing people’s life
It’s not about call to service
It’s not about improving the Jamaican economy
It’s not about reducing crime
It’s not about lower energy cost
It’s not about creating a good healthcare system.
It’s not about creating a good education system.
It’s not about becoming the Prime Minister who was responsible for moving the most Jamaicans from below the poverty line.
Portia’s sole mission was to be elected Prime Minister of Jamaica.
Its all about Portia Simpson Miller and the need to be able to say, ” I rose from humble beginnings and became Prime Minister of Jamaica by obtaining my own mandate at the polls”.
Having achieved that milestone, there was nothing else to do, mission accomplish.
This is the reason she has all but abdicated her responsibilities as Prime Minister save and except for opening ceremonies, ribbon cutting and first class travel overseas.
When our history is being recorded it will note Portia Simpson Miller as being the Jamaican PM who despite rising from humble beginnings to the top position, did very little to pull her fellow Jamaicans out of poverty, she promised so much and delivered so little.
She was passionate about the poor, but did not appear to have the capacity or know it all to help the poor, Yes she could relate to the issues of the poor and empathize with them, but that was were it all ended.
Sad, but true.

The mission of all Jamaican Politicians: Get elected and enjoy the trappings of office. Not only PSM, Jay. Every last one of them.
While that is largely true PSM more than any politician has sold her self as the poor people champion and people reached out to her because she is “one of us”.
Therein lies our downfall, believing that there is a honest politician who is really out to serve.
The fact is we have served then all the trapping that comes with the office and when their guts are full, they crap all over us and we are so happy.
Ughh , I can’t believe I said that,
I believe Seaga meant Jamaica well. Bruce had good ideas but lick him head.
I am more convinced now than when I wrote this that every last word written here is true.
