The PNP as an organization has more goodwill going for it than any other organization, political or otherwise in the country, yet despite all of the that they continue to fail the majority of the people in Jamaica.
The PNP asked for leadership and we gave that to them. We gave that something that no other political party has ever received and that was 4 consecutive terms lasting just over 18.5yrs. What did we get in return for this trust/faith in the party?
After only 4 yrs of JLP leadership where crime was on the decline and the path for growth was laid, despite the world economic crises, which had an adverse impact on the country, Jamaican decided they could not wait for the benefits and once again returned leadership to the PNP.
Almost every single group in Jamaica is sympathetic to the PNP.
The Church is sympathetic to the PNP.
The Teachers and civil servants are willing to work with the PNP having signed at least 4 wage freeze under its leadership.
The Private sector is very supportive of the PNP
The media is in love with the PNP.
Social and economic commentators are sympathetic to the PNP.
The poor in Jamaica are captivated by the PNP.
So truth be told a PNP led government has the support it needs from virtually all the stakeholders and ALL we ask of that party is to lead the country to state were crime is low, the health services are good, education is first class and an economy we can be proud of, one which is growing and leading us to prosperity. Is that too much to ask?
We have done given this party all it needs to govern properly, yet the result of all of our efforts, it continues to be a failure, as can be seen by our poor health services, poor education system, rising crime and an economy in the pits.
I would therefore like to ask the question, what more does the PNP want from us to get them off their collective asses and do their job ?
I see they have asked the social partners to lead the country for the next 3 years and I did some very quick maths here, 2013+3 = 2016 !
Wow, so the social partners will try to turn things around just in time for 2016 and the PNP will no doubt take credit and ask us once again to trust them to continue to lead us.
I certainly hope the partnership works, for Jamaica’s sake and if it does , I would recommend this group form their own political party and I would be willing to serve as part of that new party.
This partnership will not work. This is so because the government will fulfill its obligation and will in turn against its partners if they dare to criticize it.
