Douglas Walker, chief executive officer of the National Irrigation Commission (NIC), spent his final day in office last Wednesday before going off on leave before his resignation takes effect on August 23.
Walker reportedly handed in his resignation following a recent meeting involving members of the board of the NIC and Agriculture Minister Roger Clarke.

From the PNP took office they were after the NIC, what with audits of black tanks and all that distraction. Of course another comrade is being lined up for the job – that’s how things are done in Jamaica.
We don’t deal with meritocracy. Both political parties, over the years, have done it.
When I read Martin Henry’s piece in the Gleaner yesterday comparing Jamaica and Singapore, I almost cried.
I strongly believe they are gearing up for a snap election. Check how they are putting their key people in key position. I say key people because some of the people they are getting rid of are their own but they worked or were appointed under the other party so they are suspicious of them.
The trusted foot soldiers are being lined up so things can flow in the ‘right’ direction.
