What kind of a Nation have we become?

Just recently ( I believe it was Saturday, July 27, 2013) a man was on CVM speaking about the stealing of electricity from the JPS network and he was not bashful at all. The gentleman ( for want of a better word) was adamant that no matter what kind of a “smart meter, network” JPS put in place, they will continue to steal electricity , because according to him ” we caan afford it and we wan justice”.

A few weeks ago we heard of reports of illegal wires being run for (5)miles along highway 2000 and under culverts to feed some communities out west.

Last week we heard of bypass devices being dug out of yards as well as relays being buried in walls and in ceilings as people move to bypass the JPS system and steal electricity. In the case last week the stolen electricity was being used to power 7 air conditioning units.

Today ,it was reported that after getting complaints from fisher folks in Portland, a team of JPS workers stumbled upon electricity wires buried in the sea and feeding a number on buildings on the coast line.

The general rule of law and order is virtually non existent in Jamaica and morals, values and ethics have given way to depravity and a corrosive “eat a food” mentality at whatever the cost.

Corruption is Jamaica’s favorite past time as both the rich, poor and in between work to devise plan to take as much as they can without paying as long as they can pay off someone to look the other way.

Justice has been compromised to the point where murders can get off very easily, simply by paying a witness not to show up at courts or worse case eliminating the witness.knowing fully well that the case will collapse as a result.

Travelling on the streets is nothing short of a nightmare as its free for all at intersections light controlled or not, bad over taking speeding, stopping anywhere you please, driving slowly in the over-taking lane and I could go on and on.

The Minister of National Security gets rob and a scheme is devised to have the culprit avoid the open court by taking a fast guilty plea and sentencing, while many many cases of similar nature remains unresolved or languish in the courts for ages.

We have policemen arresting our young men for all kinds of crimes under pressure from the public and  does little of no investigation resulting in the unfair treatment of many of our inner city young men.

Honestly, I feel nothing but emptiness for Jamaica right now, but all hope may not yet be lost…

  1. Now it seems like the vermins have take my priest as I just heard a report that the missing Roman Catholic priest Father Charlie Brown may have been found decomposing in plantation heights.

This is so sad and my heart goes out to the family of Father Charlie and the extended Roman Catholic Family.

This is someone I knew very well for the past 20 yrs and its sad to see he was unable to die peacefully here in Jamaica.

    Sad, sad, sad…

  3. Former Mayor of New York, Rudy Guiliani, started by dealing with the “little offenses”; one does not get a sense that anybody is in control.

Go to any major town centre – hwt, may pen, ocho, porty, port maria, highgate, mandeville, morant bay – and tell me what you see.

    Total chaos!

Can anybody tell me why we have parish councils?
