Before folks jump at me, I am just repeating what Roger Clarke himself said 7 months ago.
“A new wind is blowing through the industry,” Minister of Agriculture Roger Clarke told cane farmers at the All-Island Cane Farmers’ Association’s (AICFA’s) annual general meeting at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in Kingston on Thursday.
“In all my years in sugar, this is one year I can buy Allan a drink,” he said, addressing AICFA chairman Allan Rickards.
“My God, man! I can eat a food!” an emotional Clarke said, noting his climb from leasing four acres of land to having 600 acres in the crop at present.

At a time when workers are protesting losing their jobs in the Sugar Industry Roger Clarke is a happy man because be can ” eat a food”.
What more can I say, expect Jamaicans need to pay attention to what is going on in the country and stop burying their heads in the sand, because while many are suffering, those who are connected are making a killing.

I have always wondered how the Minister of Agriculture could be actively involved in the sugar industry as a farmer. Will he take hard decisions that would affect his “food”? For example, does he get any subsidies “his ministry approves?
Mich good question.
This is why I asked about EU aid.
