The Minister of Health said on June 25, 2013 that the law to ban cigarette smoking would come into effect on July 15, 2013. Applause, applause, applause.
July 15, 2013 the law comes into effect.
There is no printed documents to educate the public
It’s not gazetted .
There is no debate in the parliament.
One minister single-handedly enacted a new law that has far reaching effect for the country ! Applause, applause, applause !
Government Senator KD Knight came out swinging against the law ( for his own self serving reasons) and suddenly John Public has found its voice and will now be critical because if a government senator can be so vociferous , then they too can now speak out.
I could not see a JLP Minister passing such a law, without debate and without consultation and getting away with it, no matter the good intent. Hell no the media and John Public would be up in arms speaking about the Autocratic actions of the minister.
Now the law has passed the stupid bunch has set up a task force to now examine the likely fall out of this untidy law and its called task force called ” Smoking Task Force”, Hahahahha !
A task force with than name should be BANNED ! Hahahhaha
Smoking Task Force Must Move Fast To Prevent Tourism Fallout’
The Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) says the task force set up to explore the likely impact of the smoking ban on the tourism industry must work speedily to prevent any fallout in the sector.
How stupid can we really be ?

Fundamentally I support a no smoking policy in designated places, but this law is plain stupid and so are those who ,greeted with applause, applause , applause in the house without even understanding the far reaching implications of the law itself. Those folks in the house sadly are who we expect to lead Jamaica to prosperity.
I shudder at that thought !

That’s what you call the cart before the horse – the cart leading the horse. Lol! Inept government, Absolutely no ‘know how to’.
It has become a pattern of behaviour and no one wants to talk about it.
Ronnie Thwaites comes and without discussing anything with cabinet decides to change teachers entitlement and applause, applause, applause, the Jamaican people support it.
Peter Phillips decides to change the NHT act because the party needs the money and applause, applause, applause, the Jamaican people could do nothing about it.
Dr Omar Davis decides that the OCG has too much powers and decide along with the attorney general to remove some of those powers and applause, applause, applause, impotence is not an option.
Peter Bunting says Indecom has too much powers, so expect to see a bill coming soon to amend indecom act and …waiting for the applause.
Lisa Hanna goes off cursing out JFJ, the only body which seems to be speaking out against the injustice against our people and no condemnation from the public.
Peter Bunting goes on a ” American Most Evil” and sinks Jamaica in the process and applause, applause, applause, after all he has done nothing wrong, he only spoke the truth.
Its a worrying pattern of behaviour, which appears to be accept by social commentators, the media and the wider public, but why ?
Maybe I am just reading too much into these types of things , maybe .
No you are not Jay and this pattern is cause for concern but you will not hear anything until someone of note in the society is affected by these decisions.
