Government MP attacks beauty contestant ?

It not often that I laugh as much as a did when I got the gleaner alert via mobile app which said ”

Tweet Blues: MP Says Sorry To Miss World Finalist

My curiosity was peaked at what this MP could have said and I will of course put my own spin on his statement, but let’s first hear what he tweeted.

Shortly after Jenaae Jackson was announced the contestant with the ‘best shape’, the Government MP took to the social media website tweeting: “bout best shape, she shape like the Jamaican economy

Now the reaction of the Jamaican public.

The comment by the MP triggered widespread condemnation from Twitter users who regarded the post as irresponsible and inappropriate.

“Our values are eroding slowly but surely,” tweeted sports expert Carole Beckford.

Another follower @dpos_smith simply tweeted “Irresponsible!”

Dr Dayton Campbell  could have meant one of two tings.

  1. The Jamaican economy was good and Jenaae Jackson had a good shape.
  2. The Jamaican economy was in bad shape and Jenaae Jackson  had a bad shape.

Given how the statement was crafted I am lead to believe that the later is the case and Dr Campbell is indeed aghast at the state of the Jamaican economy and the fact that things are not improving, but unwisely chose to attack the Ms Jackson instead of the Prime Minister.

Was Mr Campbell wrong, did he speak the truth ?

I have been hearing the public saying, nothing is wrong in speaking the truth in recent times, so what is wrong in what he has said

  1. right about the economy but wrong about the contestant, just google her beautiful girl with an amaizing body, it was clearly a publicity stunt, its not the first time this MP has gotten into trouble because of his tweets. he is like a immature teenager, im a teenager and i knw better than him, his level of maturity speaks volumes about about his leadership. he might be formally educated but overall he is stupid and should not be apart of an administration running a country. his party is in charge of the economy, he basically just blasted himself and his party smh

  2. Could this be “self hatred”? She looks like most of us.

  3. I will be accused of not being very bright, but from the headline I thought he had boxed her! Who among us thinks the Jamaican economy is in good shape?
