Dr Tufton has been lashing out at the trade practices of Trinidad and Tobago and the unfair trade balance that exist between Trinidad and Tobago.
The issue is that goods that are imported into Jamaica from Trinidad are imported duty free given we are part of Caricom and as such all good between member countries are duty free.
I don’t think the Trinidadians in Jamaica are the ones importing goods into this country from Trinidad ,which has created a trade deficit of over US$600M in favour of Trinidad.
I also do not think its the Trinidadians living in Jamaica who are the ones consuming all the items from Trinidad and Tobago. So the question is are Jamaicans the ones importing all this stuff and it stands to reason that its Jamaicans who are gobbling up all these Trinidadian products.
If my assumptions are correct, why are then complaining about Trinidad and Tobago ?
