Anthony Hylton should resign and sort out his personal issues !

The threat of a US$122K lawsuit hanging over the head of our Industry and Commerce Minister cannot be a good thing and in my opinion is reason enough for the Minister to resign forthwith until he has sorted out his personal matters.

Any public official who has such a large debt and has been unable to meet his commitment for such a long time (over 6 yrs) could easily become a target for wealthy investors trying to “invest” in Jamaica. What would prevent Jay for example who wants to bring investment to Jamaica, paying this US$122K bill in exchange for preferential treatment in investment opportunities ?

Now I am not saying this is going to happen, but given the public embarrassment that could result from the case going to court and a declaration of bankruptcy on his path, it is not a stretch of one’s imagination . (Test maybe)

This public matter I believe  is a distraction for Mr Hylton, who has been largely non-functional since being placed in this position as the Minister of Industry and Commerce . I think he needs to do himself a favour by stepping aside to sort out his personal financial matters or failure to do so, the PM should ask him to take a leave of absence and return once he has made good on his obligations.

Why does it appear to me , that I am one of only a few persons who see the clear and present danger that exist  of Mr Hylton is allowed to continue in his current role ?

I have no beef with Mr Hlyton at all, what I stand for a matter of principle and integrity, which I find is a rare commodity as US$ these days. 🙂

  1. It seems you are the only one Jay. The media should have been all over this but as usual will remain silent until Mr. Hylton is dragged before the courts.

Really? Principle and Integrity (P & I)? Is that the joke of the day? What about Daryl Vaz and Shehine Robinson? Are they similarly bankrupted? Vaz owes the GOJ over JA$50 Million. It is my understanding that he collected, on behalf of the GOJ, over JA$30 millions in GCT taxes over the years, but fail to turn yours fund over to the Government of Jamaica. If that is not stealing (a crime?) of the highest order, then what is? Ms. Robinson had liabilities associated with her US Citizen case. You know, the case where she said she was NOT a US Citizen, only to concede as much in the face of indisputable evidence.

Ms. Shehine Robinson owes over JA$15 million to Manley Bowen for “legal and indemnity costs”. Whey yuh say Jay, should Vaz and Robinson be declared bankrupt and resign their MP seats (base on Principle and Integrity)? 😀 I guess not, since those names fail make your list. Listen, I’m all for P & I, but it cuts both ways, don’t you think? Hypocrite! I don’t expect any reaction from you on my comments, since your “Principle and Integrity” tend to seek refuge in dark places, when you are confronted with basic logics.

  3. All three should settle their debts or resign their seats. How’s that for universal P&I?
