Industrial actions once again on the rise.

The Jamaican industrial scene is one again very tense as workers seek to eek out as much as they can given the tough economic climate that is causing them much grief.

The current heighten tension on the industrial scene reminds me of the 1990’s and the horrors that took place around that time.

My understanding is the situation is likely to get worse as the IMF conditions begins to bite and there is a good chance that a General Strike could be in the making.

  1. Nobody can blame them. No one wants to be on an indefinite wage freeze while the price of goods and services is increasing daily.

What I find amazing is how quickly these trade unions agree to a wage freeze under this govt compared to when they promised hell and powder house when the previous govt did it. Vincent Morrison and company were on every evening news programme pleading their case of how a wage freeze is bad for the economy.
