Had the JLP been in power and the current party in power been in opposition, it would have been hell and powder house in Jamaica .
There was no way the rank disrespect of the Jamaican people by the JLP would have been allowed as it is today under the PNP. Neither could the JLP sidestep certain processes required to get any bill passed, no matter how important it was without feeling the heat from the PNP and its many commentators.
The PNP has largely been given a freehand to mismanage the country and civil society barely murmurs now and again, when a specific policy hurts them, but for the most part its “run with it”.
The opposition spokesmen are mostly asleep (with the exception of a few) and they (the JLP) have done nothing to rally the people against this “wicked and uncaring government”.
Where is the opposition on ” fiscal deficit can’t eat and people can’t sleep on balance sheet”?
Where is the opposition on alternatives to the energy crises?
Where is the opposition of the rapid increase in suicides as the economic crunch continues to destroy lives?
Where is the opposition of the destruction of the middle class and the horrors stories of the poor, who cannot access medical attention and the basics things required for the preservation of human dignity?
Where is the opposition on the “leaderless/ruderless ship” called Jamaica?
Where is the opposition on the double speech(es) on the exchange rate?
Where is the opposition on what’s to come as part of our agreement with the IMF?
Where is the opposition when you need them most ?
Where is the opposition of the job losses gripping the country ?
Where is the opposition as the country barrels down the road of another recession ?
Someone wrote that this blog has done more for the JLP that the JLP for itself, how come ?
Mr Holness needs to either shape up or ship out. Jamaican yearns for a strong opposition and right now Andrew Holness is NOT offering that by virtue of his approach. Enough of the nice guy thing Andrew, step up and start acting like a leader in waiting vs a man who is willing to be run over by a rampant and marauding PNP government.
Its time for the opposition to start working, working working vs sleeping , sleeping, sleeping.
We need a PSM in opposition 🙂

Although it is a fact that the jlp has managed the economy in a more prudent manner than the pnp based on macroeconomic data and information from prestigious magazines The Economist and Fortune Magazine, the party is still not popular. Firstly, the jlp should become more organized in order to impress its base and connect with the masses. Secondly, the party must solve internal feuds, because this will divert negative attention away from the jlp. Thirdly, the jlp needs to articulate its economic ideas and free market principles in a more coherent manner. During his budget presentation; Mr. Holness stated that the future jlp administration will privatize development approvals and inefficient government boards. However, we are not impressed it is our view that more should be done. For example, local government should be abolished not entrenched in the constitution. Local government is an expensive venture which only perpetuates garrison politics. We also believe that the National Insurance Fund should not be lending money to Smes, the DBJ has a credit line for Smes, the National Insurance fund should not get involve activities which are outside its domain. Furthermore, the NHT has failed to provide 75% of its contributors with a home; therefore their funds should not be used to build homes for persons who do not contribute to the fund. Conservatives see this as socialism in disguise; it is a perfect example of government infringing on our rights. The jlp should not alter its free market views for publicity. We conservatives believe that the jlp will become viable when it has a strong conservative leaders
Well said Lipton.
I guess you must have amnesia about the last JLP government borrowing Billions and not paying back a dime?? Not implementing any macroeconomic reforms? Not revising the tax system? Not doing much of any damn thing for sure except increasing the overall debt load of Jamaica which by the way conveniently ignores the monies that have been borrowed to support “free” hospitals & “free” schools! Listen, take your propaganda elsewhere because your “facts” are pure fiction whether or not the economist or fortune say so. “We conservatives”?? The JLPPNP have no ideological differences & haven’t had any for a rather long time so not only are you delusional, you actually believe in duppy.
For maybe the 9 months that the JLP was in opposition I was pleased with its performance. I saw it being a responsible and progressive opposition. Its main objective seemed to be the success of the country rather than the destruction of the government. But now things have gotten totally ridiculous. I’m certainly not saying that the JLP should be anyone’s worst nightmare but it needs to get itself in order and become more aggressive as an opposition. Jamaica needs a strong (but not nightmarish) opposition.
I agree that the JLP as an opposition is weak. They need to resolve their internal issues and present a united front to keep the government in check. The people also have a responsibility to play a role in whats happening in the society. When you look and see whats happening in Brazil, I guess the citizens of Brazil has had enough. Where is the breaking point for Jamaica?
The government is a joke and need to be kept in check. The JLP has to step up and decide if they are going to keep hiding in the their shell or come out and be a meaningful opposition. And as said by msupdate, not a nightmare like the previous one.
We need a PSM (PNP) in opposition
Keep dreaming! We all know what your (once secret) agenda was from the begining. It was just ozzing from your pores. I see you public stating that you cannot wait for 2016 to arrive for the JLP to take over the reign. My recommendation to you is that you need to add another 13.5 years for you wish for it too be realistic or attainable. The Jamaican people, in recent times, have consistently rebuffed any attempts by the Labourites to take control. We gave you guys a chance in 2007 and your leader chose to support a Narco-Tracfficker/Gun Runner/Mercendary/Murderer, etc., over the best interest of the Country. He then disappears when he realizes that the people was about to dump him, and elected to install a puppet (holness) who was soundly defeated at the polls.
Now, you (and your Minion Posse or Minion Crew 😀 ) cannot accept that defeat, you come with these constant drivel, attempting/advocating revolutions and all manner of evil, to undo the election and the actions of the majority. To make matters worse, you and your crew choose to label the masses as dumb and idiots. As I have said before, attempting overthrow or regime change by blog-force will not work. If you do not like what’s going on in the Country, you can just leave or can be proactive and run for public office.
Test, the pnp failed to control crime for 18.5 years, even Reneto Adams gave the jlp the edge in terms of controlling crime. Furthermore, the dudus argument is really lame.
Lame eh? What about Jay’s JLP MP who left the comforts and security of his home in Kingston, drive all the way to St. Thomas to snatch an injured criminal out of the hands of the Police, who had him cornered. The same criminal that was out on bail for double murder charges at the time. The same thug that was eventually acquitted when the main witness to one or more of these murders was himself killed. I bet you can not identify a single PNP MP who interfered with an active Police Operation and rescue a known criminal. I will not bore you with the details of the other JLP MP from out West who was hauled before the courts for public berating the Police. Oh, what about that other JLP nominated-MP, a Female Doctor, who entered a taped-off police crime scene and start picking up spent shells and putting them into her purse. I guess this is what you would classify as the JLP way of fighting crime and these named/unnamed MPs were simply lending valuable assistance (although unsolicited) to the Police. 🙂
You remember Wiki Leaks? The same WiKi Leaks that you claim was a person. According to that source, the JLP MP from Jay’s neck of the woods was implicated by way of US Cables as being a narco-trafficker and how the MP father had to sell some land to pay off the Drug Kingpin for some unpaid drug debt that his son the MP racked up over time.
Yep, I see how you guys fight crime in reverse….you just become a willing participant! 😀
Not even you believe the crap you just wrote.
…but when pressed, you cannot provide one iota of rebuttal as to what part of the comments are “crap”. You know when I’m getting under you skin, you use such colorful words as “crap”. Yuh soon ban mi from yuh blog. I’ll make a deal with you. Stop posting these one-sided drivel and I will desist from balancing things out by debunking them as share nonsense. Deal? 🙄
I won’t ban you Test. I am giving you enough latitude to embarass yourself.
Did you hear what Dr Davis had to say recently.
If not he virtutally admitted that he and by extention the PNP were failures. I guess that is a lie right.
Over the last 20yrs PNP had 16yrs at the wheels. Dr Davis statements are instructive and is something I have said on this blog for a long time.

Well said and also said on my behalf. I just never got the time to write exactly this. Your end ing was just supern. Jay needs to stop using blog to get JLP back and instead he must just simply run for office instead.
Once again, you said as I would and well said.
We need to hear from you more.
Ivor is awake again. Hahaha. PNP will ensure Jamaica is a wasteland by 2016. Gladly I have plans in place to ensure I won’t be around when the brown stuff hit the fan and fall on these guys who will be so happy to wallow in it.
Good luck enjoy the ride to poverty !
Its just a pity so much people will have to suffer before they do the smart thing and boot the PNP from and banish them from power for about 15yrs to allow Jamaica to finally grow itself out of its problems.

Jamaicans sleep while their rights are being trampled on while over in the worlds 8th largest democracy the people protest.
When will the opposition energy the masses ?

People like Test and Ivor just want their party to remain in power no matter how badly they are performing.
If this government should remain in power for the next four terms God help us. Jamaicans would start migrating even to Haiti.
Since Test is bringing up wikileaks then he would have accept everything that was leaked by them. You cannot selectively choose what to believe and what to not believe.
You are right Calsonic. I just remember that Wikileaks highlighted some cables from the US Embassy in Kingston, where two prominent JLP MPs (Dr Horace Chang and Shahine Robinson) were implicated as being involved Money Laundering. Jay has all the Wikileaks information on this blog. Why don’t you pick from the data to show any PNP MPs involve in any serious crimes? Why is it always the JLP MPs? Money Laundering often times are linked to Narco-trafficking. Since you said I’m being selective, could you provide some of your favorite PNP-related leaks?
Test be careful. There is dirt on Phillip Paulwell there too.

We can talk about Peter Phillips trash talking the previous PNP government and PSM lack of leadership credentials.
We can also talk about the PNP paying dons and area leaders not to participate in demonstrations.
If PSM is such a lousy leader and she beat Holness in the last election, what does that say about Holness or PSM?
It says that PSM is only effective to win an election. Don’t confuse leadership with an ability to whip up a crowd. No Jamaican politician alive today can beat PSM at this.
And if you are using winning elections as a yardstick for how effective a political leader is then PJ Patterson would be the g.o.a.t.
Ok, could you please address the other part of the question: what does it say about Holness?
Too honest. Too much of a nice guy. Portia pulled no punches to the win the election. Classic case of the dog chasing the car and don’t know what to do when it catches it.
