The first thing that comes to the mind of many, having read the headlines is ” so what about the JLP” , they were equally culpable, weren’t they ?
The fact is the PNP having had the biggest bite out of the “apple” along with gross incompetence, rampant corruption, very poor economic strategy, populist leadership have ran Jamaica into the ground, aided and abbetted by the poor and uneducated Jamaica voters.
The PNP policies from the 1970’s, 1990’s and 2000’s have done very little to move this country forward and today Jamaica, which should be King of the Caribbean is nothing short of a pan handler.
We venture to all parts of the world to borrow money to support our extravagant lifestyle and voracious appetite for foreign goods, that we cannot earn enough to purchase.
Walking and driving the streets of Kingston and other Parish Captial, one would be lead to believe that Jamaica is a very prosperous country. Audi’s, Pajero’s, Prado’s, BMW’s, Benz, Jaguar, Range Rovers and other high end vehicles adorned the Jamaican streets and could easily lead one to believe we are in a first world and not a debt ridden country.
Every PNP administration in living memory have presided over increased levels of criminal activities, corruption, job losses, massive devaluation and lower levels of productivity. The PJ Patterson lead administration was the worst one ( some say the Manley Era was worst) as during his period of leadership, we had the single largest economic collapse in Jamaica’s history, when over $120b disappeared coupled with shuttering of thousands of once viable business.
Despite these massive job losses and almost total collapse of the financial sector, Jamaicans continue to vote for incompetence, corruption, eat a food, crime and violence, devaluation and social and economic malaise.
The PNP must have thought they were doing a job ( of destroying the country) by virtue of the fact that they just kept on wining election after elections and kept on doing a bad job given that by doing so they were rewarded with even more wins.
Many countries having recognized the path that they are on is wrong by virtue of the results, choose to change direction, but not Jamaica, we keep on doing the very thing we did which got us to where we are and its ” no problem mon, we smart we can wiggle our way out of anything”.
In those countries that have decided that ” hell no” I want a better economic situation for myself, my family and by extension the country have ensured that change comes about either by violent or quiet revolution and shaking up the status quo.
I have no faith in this PNP administration, I do not believe they have the capacity, the creative ideas and or energies, the management skills or the will to bring about meaningful changes that can lead to growth and development in the country.
The many relics in the party, many of whom would have been part of previous disasters called the PNP, simply does not have what it takes to move Jamaica to the next level. The Prime Minister is a poor choice for party leader, she does not inspire confidence, she cannot or refuses to lead, she constantly hides from the press, fails to communicate on a regular basis, does not hold her people accountable and continues to ride on the back of the poor in order to massage her ego and thirst for power.
The party is devoid of shakers and movers, they are like headless chickens for the most part running around chasing their tails , while country goes to ” hell in a basket”.
The Prime Minister is on her throne working , working working
The National Security Minister has run out of ideas.
The Finance Minister is all over the world like a pan handler borrowing other people’s money
The Minister of Investment and Commerce is worried about being hauled to court for US$120K and has lost sight of his job. He has not announced an single initiative that has not been announced before, to bring in investments in Jamaica and he is dreaming big, but refuses to wake up.
The Minister of Agriculture has expanded his waistline and continues to be a “waste” of time in that Ministry. He spends more time speaking about what needs to be done vs doing what ought to be done, because he does not have the capacity to execute what is required.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs is out there chastising local manufacturers for daring to complain about bad trade practices with Trinidad, while local manufacturing is dying. Incidentally the Trinidadian Minister of Commerce has fully endorsed this ministers comments.
The Minister of local government appears not to know his job and appears to be totally out of it and is sleeping on the job. The country is a dirty as it can get, garbage is strewn all over the place, fire trucks are not available and the country burns out of control.
The Minister of Mining and Energy has a lot of energy, makes an announcement almost every week, but so far has delivered very little. He appears to be like the JPS energy plants, which operates at just 35% thermal efficiency levels. By this I mean only 35% of the fuel consumed is converted into useful energy, the rest is “wasted” as heat.
The Minister of Transport and Works wants so desperately to spend the money from China and wherever else he thinks he can get it, that he is willing to create a bill that will ensure that the OCG can only review contracts after they have been signed, sealed and delivered. Now recall this is a man who is willing to ” run wid it” if “it” means that his party stands a great chance of being returned to power.
The Minister of Water and Climate Change has not changed and has been a perennial under achiever/non performer for years. The country water resources are dwindling by the day, the cities and rivers are getting more polluted by the day, yet this Minister is telling us he has over $50b to spend in 8 yrs. Given his poor track record of signing good contracts and inability to execute we can expect a significant portion of this $50B to be spent, with the majority being spent 2015/2016 and very little to show for it.
The Minister of Education is educating the country about the gross dishonesty and hypocritical nature of this present PNP administration and is giving the JTA fine lesson, in how never to trust politicians.
The Minister of Youth and Culture has perfected the art of saying a lot to say nothing and doing a lot to achieve nothing. She has commissioned more audit than Price Waterhouse and yet has implemented next to nothing coming out of those audit results.
The Minister of Tourism is trying his best but has come to realize that its harder to actually get visitors to come to Jamaica, than saying how many visitors he expects to get to visit the country and how much US$ he expects to gain as a result.
The Minister of Health is presiding over a very unhealthily state of affairs in the health sector and we hear many are likely to die without receiving medical attention, because the IMF say we cannot afford to spend more than we currently are spending.
If I missed out a minister please forgive me it was not intentional.

As it relates to Bunting, he is more into statistics and graphs. That is his approach to deal with crime. You can only spin but for a time, soon you will have to show the people results.
The Prime Minister all of a sudden is scared of the Jamaican people. Can you imagine if she was in opposition and the JMD reached this high against the USD. The amount of wailing of wicked and uncaring government she would’ve level against the JLP government. But because it is her party in power she is silent and hiding behind Peter Phillips.
It is only party fanatics and uninformed persons are being fooled by what is happening.
Nothing has changed since this was written and I feel even more strongly now than ever.
