Are Jamaican judges above criticism ?

The police commissioner has been hauled over the coal by members of the legal fraternity for daring to criticize to judge on the bail issue and granting of bail to reputed gangsters.

I decided to do a bit of check and guess what I have found.

I have seen where the UK based privy council have been very critical of Jamaican judges in the past based on cases that have come to them and that they have overturned in favour of those convicted.

I search and I have never found any lawyer in Jamaica who has ever been critical of the ruling of the UK judges for daring to be critical of our local judges, in fact they have expressed delight by the decision taken by these overseas judges. This is the case as in most cases its their client’s conviction that has been overturned by the privy council.

Now what does this say about those in the legal fraternity who have attacked the Commissioner ?

Owen please stand your ground.

  1. The police needs to be smarter to outfoxed these lawyers. Its not that Jamaican lawyers are brilliant, its the Jamaican cops are NOT smart and well trained.

Smartness is Jamaica is really “being crooked”, that is not the smartness that I am referring to.

  2. A lawyer takes close to 7yrs to be fully trained, then more years to practice to be practician.

Put this guy up to a cop who becomes fully trained in a few months and is given an M-16 , ballistic helmet and vest and who is going to come out the winner in any court case .

This is the reason we have so much gangsters on the street and the reason why if you are suspected to have committed a crime or fits the description of someone who has committed a crime, you are likely to be killed in a “shoot out” or ” shooting “.
